I think standing water is so cool, the concept of a lying pool of poison is so funny. Static and held in places humans haven't walked in years. I think urban exploring is stupid but also all the best things you can do to live are stupid. I mean you risk brain eating amoebas and tetanus and other things but, actually this isn't sounding worth it.

And here's the fact, to kill the bacterias that may be found in standing water you'd have to heat it to 65°C or 149°F for 5 minutes, to be completely certain it's recommended to bring the water to a full boil (100°C or 212°F) for at least a minute. But you should probably just find running or moving water for better chances.

I like urban exploring but I'm also not like. Stupid. So if I'm in a place and there's even too much mold or smth or it's too damp I will leave immediately, yk?

I always found still water interesting, how these bacteria and amoeba can grow just from the water being stagnant, thank you thermometah

Keeping it real simple today, for hurricanes to form the ocean's water must be over 26°C or 79°F

Once after a hurricane a dog appeared on our doorstep, he was very very big and very slobbery. We found his home a little down the road and gave him back to his owner, i never saw either of them again.

that's so cool!! I didn't realise the water had to be so warm, although it makes sense. I'm glad you returned the dog safely to his owners, he sounds adorable.

A nuclear reactor's pool tends to be around 25°C to 50°C (75°F to 122°F) for context hot tubs lie around 37°C or 102°F. So while dangerous it is less than I'd expect, it's only heated by the cooling spent nuclear fuel.

A nuclear reactor averages around 250°C to 950°C (480°F to 1,742°F) and while I don't know what a nuclear fusion is apparently hotter than the sun which doesn't seem good. It's worrying to me at least. But maybe I'm just scared.

A nuclear fusion, not to be confused with nuclear fission, is when two or more atomic nuclei combine to make a larger nucleus! This has only ever been caused intentionally, and the safety measures are so precautious that there's practically no room for error or accidents to happen! Most people use chernobyl as an example of nuclear disaster to deflect the idea of using nuclear energy but safety precautions have improved so much since then that its impossible for such tragedy to strike anymore! While I'm unsure if it was nuclear fusion or fission that they use in nuclear energy centers, its an incredibly efficient and sustainable form of energy, and is much better for the environment! It CAN get quite expensive though, that's the only thing :(

FUN FACT!!!!!! Tardigrades commonly known as water bears are eight legged micro-animals known for their ability to survive extreme conditions. Able to withstand temperatures from -164°C up to 151°C (-328°F up to 304°F).

They can also survive for over fifty years without access to water using an extreme type of hibernation where they slow their body systems to where they are just almost dead, this is called cryptobiosis. And they're first animal to ever survive the cold, consuming, radiation blasted vacuum of space!

OH WAIT IK WATER BEARS!! I just forgot the name for them 💔💔 I can confirm that they are THE CUTEST little critters you've ever seen also, they're genuinely such an impressive creature, and in my opinion, the most impressive animal like. Ever. These critters could be our lead to extra terrestrial life, after all! Thanks thermometah!

My favorite element is Mercury which is completely unrelated to its use in thermometers although due to its pretty deadly nature most manufacturers have stopped using it.

Mercury has the lowest melting point of any metal (-38.83°C or -37.89°F) and is the only metal which is liquid at room temperature. The only other element that is liquid under standard conditions is bromine (another favorite).

Opposing that Tungsten has the highest melting point with 3422°C or 6191.6°F, loser. (I don't like tungsten)

no way, Mercury is my favourite element too! I've been fascinated by it since I was young, I loved watching videos of people letting it melt and solidify again and again. I don't know as much about bromine, but I have heard of it before. I didn't realise how high the melting point for tungsten was, although aplit reminds me of is those tiktoks where they say the best gift to buy a man is a tungsten cube, if you know what I'm talking about

Fun fact! There are about 1.1 trillion calories of human on earth, imagine how hot earth would have to get to cook all that meat? Maybe that's why the billionaires fund global warming. Hm, food for thought -🌡️(going to start signing off me think)

I have to come out and be honest here I don't know how many more temperature fun facts there are, they're difficult to find as I've put myself into a very specific niche so they might be a pit more few and far between although that's already happened

I Mean you could just start going down the route of fun facts in general, or find another niche to give fun facts, idk tbh man 😭😭 most of my gimmick blogs are smth stupid and repetitive that I dint need to do research for, but I do hope you'll stay nonetheless!
