Eisenhower once stated something along the lines that War is where government people make money disappear. I would go further and say that government (and all its “paper activities”) as a whole is that gargantuan money-pit…a creator of black-holes to shovel money into and have it Poof —disappear. I know, my generation is shocked by the billionaire lifestyles of those privileged in government, with their taxpayer-paid-for too numerous vacations, and how they so easily jet off to luxury conferences, and royal overly-posh resorts, hotels, and other accommodations. And personally, I think taxpayer-paid-for FACELIFTS crossed the line. Yes, the line that wasn’t crossed with above the law insider trading(where crimes were committed by congressmen, and then bills were passed to white-wash themselves). And of course that line where politicians provided themselves with Elitist health-care (which is far better than the Obamacare which the rest of us are stuck with — despite it being a national joke even made fun of on sitcoms such as Two Broke Girls…It’s only okay if you don’t have to use it and or you’re not paying for it.). Let’s not even mention all the freebies and Tax-breaks the fat-cats in D.C. give themselves… for no apparent reason. And if you don’t think that’s bad enough, just remember how they told us that we would simply have to suffer during the bad economy, but then they turned around and gave themselves a Pay raise.
No, I Don’t vote Tea Party. I just vote my idea of a healthy government …an economically responsible government. I don’t spend more than I have, so I apply the same line of thinking to government. We the People work hard for our Money and the government taking it and making it disappear is GREED. However, now, all the government seems to have to do is use the right words—(side-track you away from the money and onto an…ego trip or if you prefer “cause”) with the pretense of doing good, and they have an excuse to take your hard-earned cash.
For example, terrorism. Not the actual soldiers fighting —but here at home —Since 9/11 countless billions of dollars have been spent on our War on Terror, yet have we won? The statement was that they, the terrorists, wanted to destroy our freedom; our way of life. Well, now I ask did we hang on to any of those things or were they burned on the WORD pyre of government “making us safer”? In a free argument, the question would then be, Did we lose? …and to whom?
Another favorite excuse of government to take your money (in the form of “taxes” of course), is for infrastructure. Well, 8 years since the official new infrastructure campaigns began, and this blackhole just continues to make money disappear. Yes, in my area, we have several roads which have undergone construction three or more times in less than 10 years without any improvement actually being made. Often this construction is a huge hindrance to local businesses, and to the citizens trying to commute to work, but the government doesn’t take note. They post the sign with the elaborate price mentioned, the work drags on, and then is redone, posting a new sign including only the new price tag ….and the people living in the area can’t help but wonder what all that money achieved.
Finally, there is the perpetually-beloved excuse of “The Children” and their education. For all the government love of children and money that the word can promise, said government has a record of failure in all areas. …Foster care…etc. You’d think the citizens by now would scream “Stay the hell away from Children.” Why is it always just a cluster-f… of damage. For all the grand neoclassical buildings built to house this very expensive baby-sitting called education, the only outcome of shoveling butt-loads of money into this cause is— less education, more bullying, and possibly a chance to experience a rampage killing.
Am I anti-government, An anarchist,— Of Course Not. I simply believe that government is supposed to protect its citizens. That’s why government was instituted — to protect our lives and our possessions. It wasn’t meant to be this colossal hydra which consumes everything with its many limbs, and ultimately is only protecting itself at the peril of its citizens. It is Me, the citizen, it takes its Oath to — every single person in government takes an Oath to Protect & Serve us. But yet, that Oath is so quickly forgotten and our servants start serving their bank accounts.
