REVIEW: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion What a wonderful read. I've been wanting to read this book for a while and have been in a romance mood at the moment so it was about time I got to it. Such a wholesome read about a man who just wants to find love and get married but struggles socially with others until he meets a special lady who turns his world upside down. I loved this book. The story was so simple but also complicated at the same time. There is a lot of intellectual terminology thrown around that gets explain which at times was difficult to follow but in the end made a lot of sense considering who the main character is. It was an interesting look at someone who isn't completely aware that their mind works differently to others. Especially as a grown adult. The story was also so cute and made me want to cry tears of joy. There a lot of pop culture references and the events that take place are described with such detail that it makes it easy to imagine yourself there. Book #11 for 2019 (and yeah, I've missed two. Is it too late to post them?) Don Tillman is a genetics professor from Melbourne. He has constructed a sixteen-page questionnaire to help him find the perfect partner. His friend Gene throws him a wild card ... and well, you can probably guess the rest. #therosieproject was sweet and compelling but almost stumbled in a few places? Don took me a handful of pages to get to know, but then again he's not the most regular of protagonists is he? I found myself excited at the progession he made and how welcoming if not startled he was towards these things. His affection towards Rosie developed in a way thar surprises us all. Slowly, and then all at once. I do wish there was a little more. I was hooked, ordering the next two booked before I finished but now wishing I had waited before I made more purchases. Plan and simple. Knowing this book had sequels meant I expected the ending to be a little different. But, maybe that's the fanfic reader in me. Thought the love angle would be prolonged. The fast-paced conclusion of this novel felt rushed and crammed. It lost points here. -- I actually cannot believe that I made it past 10 books. Didn't even think I would do half of that. Can we make it to 20? This book really surprised me, in a good way! The main character, Don Tillman, may have some signs of Aspergers or Autistic Spectrum condition, however the book provides an insight into what it may be like to live with these conditions in a sensitive yet funny way. There were some hilarious and well written chapters – the Jacket Incident, the college ball with its associated dancing lessons, learning about sexual positions and The Wife Project Questionnaire! I read this book in one day, it was so easy to get stuck into, perfect for a lazy Sunday with a few hundred cups of tea ;’)
