Y'know after seeing how badly Licorice was about to crash tf out it made me realize something about him.
Bc previous to the episode like I've always known him to be filled to the brim with spite, bitterness, and a dash of depression. But now I wonder if he is the type of person to cry not just because he is sad or in pain, but because of how much bottled up rage and anger he holds inside from how shit of a hand he's usually dealt by life
I've always seen Licorice as someone who is fighting some very terrible demons and was handed the absolute worst in life. He's spiteful towards others, yet feels inadequacy and frustration with always giving everything his all and still falling short of all he desires. A man who is prayed upon for those insecurities and monopolized under the foot of a cruel woman who dangles promise and self-worth before him like a tempting lure. A man who hates being seen as pitiable and pathetic, but in reality is just that.
He is the culmination of many things, imho - hardship, stratification, misery, self-loathing, lack of confidence, spite, jealousy, trauma... a man who takes comfort in things (and people) who are misunderstood and seen as 'lesser' for things they can't control. It's why I feel he holds such a kinship to Brute. I feel it takes everything in him for Licorice to keep it together some days. I believe Licorice weeps for a lot of reasons - disappointment in himself, futility of his situation, feeling misunderstood and unloved by others, frustration with his own short comings, jealousy and hatred of those who are able to so effortlessly get what he busts his ass for, rejection, inadequacy, out of trauma and facing his own weakness, resentment for his own misfortune and terrible life, missed opportunities, missed friendships, self-isolation, those who call him crazy and those who never believed in him. Anger, sorrow and loneliness are among the main things I feel he weeps for. I think you're very correct on that assumption and I agree wholeheartedly.
