Knee rapid fire bounces up and down, a firm hand moves to his thigh, silencing the slap-slap-slap of the hospital issued slipper again the floor. Surely that would wake his roommate who was sleeping off a bought of extremely bad stomach poisoning not five feet from him.
“I know.” The words are soft, barely a whisper as fingers sliding through thick, blonde hair, mussing it slightly. Lorelei was the last person he should have called about this, yet she had been the first on his mind and the one he’d automatically went to in his contact list. His heart tightened in his chest just being able to hear her voice again after almost a year apart. He’d be lying if he said a tiny part of him wasn’t happy he’d gotten into the accident so he’d have a reason to contact her again.
He should have said no to the driver, anyone smarter would have, yet his mouth answered before his brain had a chance to work. “Alright. I’ll wait for them here.” A pause. A very long pause.
“Lore...I-” The sentence is cut off, brain finally catching up with him. “How’s Morgan?”
