❛ please , don’t argue with me . ❜ from Eli for Sab, of course
"Would you have told me??" Her face is red-hot with anger, pale cheeks lit up by splotchy pink so furious is she. She goes to run her hand through her hair but the motion is interrupted by her tight braid. Frustrated, she rips the band off and cards her fingers through the greasy mess.
Eli going to Yvica alone she could deal with. It wouldn't be her favorite idea, but she wouldn't put up a fight like this. The bog, however... and on a moonless night? What the fuck does Vance think he's on?
She remembers being six-and-a-half years old, trudging behind Robin one cold morning. Eli was in a sling over their parent's back. The ground was slippery with mud underneath her leather-wrapped feet. She remembers asking Robin if she could go further into the bog, because she always asked that, every day, and of course Robin always said no. Stay within view, and come back to me when it gets dark. This day, Sabina decided to protest. She threatened to run away into the bog.
Robin stopped and crouched in front of her and said, very seriously, "Do it if you must, but not tonight. Tonight, there is no moon, and the faeries will be hunting, and if they find you they will eat you like a rabbit."
Those words echo in her head now as she looks at her brother, her heart pounding with indignation and her mind supplying her with a steady stream of ideas for how to communicate her dissatisfaction to Vance. Fucking murderous asshole. If Eli's life is in jeopardy, maybe she should just kill Vance and take the consequences. Then again, someone might take revenge and go for Eli and then it would be really inconvenient to be rotting in a Kashyrian prison cell.
"This is fucked up, even for him. You're not going."
