has anyone seen the high king? we can't find him anywhere...
#acrylic gouache#silmarillion#nolofinwë#morgoth#horse#fingolfin#has anyone wept for the brave horse of the high king? who was the only one to stand and fall alongside him? who ran swiftly into the dark?#me! i will#rochallor#can you believe im finally drawing nolofinwë and this is what i choose to do with the guy.#not the first time ive drawn morgoth. but the first time i havent drawn him as a wailing crying twig thing in the corner#its not for lack of thoughts about him (nolofinwë). hes a very active and intimidating elf. fëanor takes up a great deal of the spotlight#but nolofinwës actions have just as much consequence. more. i would like to say more.#but yes it would be very alarming to lose track of the high king as he speeds north with intent to scream at morgoth and get himself killed#he does one better than that he also stabs him seven times.#this is saying nothing of the fraught question of his succession.#he is clear in his wishes and intention that his son succeed him but there is the ever looming question of will the fëanorian political#block continue to uphold their abdication in favor of this. if they will decide to interpret the previous statements in a less broad manner#and maedhros is only one piece of this. his brothers have been pissed off about this issue for a few centuries now.#and has anyone checked on finrod recently? how comfortable are we with not sparing this one a thought?#will all worrisome parties be too scattered and exhausted by the war just fought to start a new one? or will they take their chance while#fingon finds himself in a similarly poor state?#having such uncomfortable thoughts as relief at how thoroughly his cousins lands and numbers were ravaged#the other uncomfortable thought being he will not know if they would have acted against him otherwise. without proving#things remain uncertain.#also his dad is dead.#an aside oh my god why didnt anyone tell me black construction paper is????? perfect???#i suppose its main fault is that it will deteriorate and destroy itself eventually but?????#permanence is a lie and nothing can exist without changing????? this is so fun to paint on :D#i had to edit this post to add in fingolfin what is my problem
