He looked to her only briefly as he pulled his thoughts together.
“I don’t even know if I’m heading in the right direction on this path. It’s terrifying to say the least.”

This was no grand feat, something he’s been able to achieve since he was a mere child without any specialized study. It’s a natural skill just like breathing to him. Second nature. The kitten moved freely, two blue eyes bright with life and magic, as it tried to pounce on the demon’s hands. Fingers were its target of a fierce nibbling attack.
Hector watched it momentarily.
“There are many different magics in the worlds, Sebastian. I’m not surprised.” For as much as he knows, there’s record of only one other with his power. It was rare.
“Alchemy to get the body moving, and magic to form a soul.” Custom fitted for a dead kitten. Fingers reached over to gently scratch behind the feline’s ear. “Is the basic idea.”

Demons and devils were much less myths and legends, and more of an elusive species of creature. Finding themselves on earth, roaming or causing some sort of chaos or mass hysteria before disappearing back into the dark long enough for some other creature to take the blame.
At least, that’s what his books taught him about demons, and with the few he’s met, that seemed pretty accurate. They give off a far more darker and sinful smell and with Hector’s own experience, he could distinguish a demon from a human. Usually.
Usually, they wouldn’t stand in the middle of a road, looking far more lost than intimidating. The blue eyed man stopped in his tracks as he considered the one before him as some new cross roads devil-- before he realized they passed a crossroads on the way back home. Standing around with this demon, or not demon, wasn’t getting him anywhere, the sun had long since kissed the horizon, and it was getting darker by the minute.
“Is there a new toll of some sort or are you just blocking the way?”

“I would say you aren’t any good at all if you can’t stop a one foot pug from taking a sacred book and ripping it to shreds.”
