So I just read Comes Around Again (almost in one sitting, but I was super tired at chapter 33, so I slept before the final chapter), and my favorite parts are Bilbo saying "I'm not sure I can cook enough for a century of hard times" followed by the Dwarves crying when they see the feast; Gimli's noticing Bilbo's reaction to the Song that Convinces Him to Go; and Bilbo's general ... Bilbo-ness.

I also quite enjoyed all the nods at the way the different cultures have developed--how different Hobbit customs are from Dwarven ones, for example, and Aragorn having fun as a child (because he met some dwarves). I very much enjoyed all the way time travel affected the story in small ways--allowing characters to be a little more happy or a little more vulnerable or a little more brave in those most important moments.

Thank you so much! I have to admit, delving into the different customs was one of my favorite parts of writing this fic. There was SO MUCH META when this fic began on things like Hobbit V Dwarf manners, food, etc that influenced how I saw the world, those moments became my own contribution. I’m glad you liked them!

“Legolas!” he called out. “ibin abnâmul!” He looked about, but could not see his elf. “Where are you?”

“Here,” called a voice from behind, and approaching quickly. Gimli spun, and had just enough time to raise his hand before Legolas, still on horseback, gripped his forearm tightly and pulled him up onto his mount. “It is good to see you again, Meleth,” Legolas said. “I hope it lasts long enough for me to greet you properly.”

Gimli hummed so low it was nearly a purr, and Legolas laughed. “Aye,” Gimli agreed. “Let us hope I remain thus long enough for me to win my prize, for my count is now sixty-seven.”
