That feeling
I don't know that I can describe exactly what I mean by That Feeling, the feeling I got after seeing SNM the first time. So instead of trying to define it, I'm listing out some things that have given me That Feeling and some that haven't. This is an observation, not a value judgment. As always, de gustibus non disputandum est. Your mileage may vary. Let a million flowers bloom. But if you have any suggestions that a lowly country mouse should look out for, do tell.
Yep
Sleep No More
Then She Fell
Her Long Black Hair (and also the Forty-Part Motet)
H.T. Darling's Incredible Musaeum Presents: The Treasures of New Galapagos, Astonishing Acquisitions from the Perisphere
The occasional local weird performance art / semi-immersive dance piece (sometimes featuring SNM veterans)
The video game Gone Home, and to a much much much lesser extent, Dear Esther and Tacoma
Nope
Confection (good and important show, great performances, but it didn't give me That Feeling)
Freeform/parlor LARPs (fun and sometimes even moving but still not That Feeling)
Various burlesque/cabaret/drag/magic shows (again, very cool and I’m a big fan, but not That Feeling)
Several really amateurish (for all meanings of that word) local attempts at immersive theater, which I won't name
An immersive NYC show I saw that featured an SNM alum, which I won't name
An immersive-inspired novel, which I won't name
Escape rooms (Tried one--not for me)
