winnie moments in az that changed by brain chemistry
[ forgive me if some of these quotes are slightly off. i am going based off notes and memory ]
âthe things our parents give us can kill usâ //Â winnie, when she was totally convinced she had been passed down a curse. but now it rings true for a lot of things in this campaign. grief. vengeance. expectations.
"we could jump out the window. run for it." // the party helping mimiko and winnie being totally ready to create the craziest situations possible. they even offered hest, even though that horse bites.
âwe will get them back. that isnât a question.â // trene is taken. there is no way that winnie is letting them stay taken. they don't even know they are siblings yet. but the loyalty is there and the friendship that will save them both.
âwinnie's mother would still be alive if she hadnât been bornâ // true despair for winnie. their worst fears confirmed. everything they have done, even living has brought others pain. and what can she do about it? nothing.
âi thought i was cursed. turns out iâm just like this.â //Â taking off the glasses. revealing her eyes. all of it, and her friends still stay there. maybe there is something more to this party thing than just mutual survival. but she is still a monster.
âyou see a woman standing behind your shoulder, invisible in reality, but her image is reflect in the pool. your mother.â //Â the voice in their head. not a curse. a mother. her mother. who has been there for years. why didn't winnie sense her? was she that bad a daughter?
"your father let morwyn kill your mother. he didn't do anything." // vengeance. vengeance. vengeance. vengeance. vengeance. vengeance. winnie's heart is filled with it. vengeance. vengeance. vengeance. vengeance.
âbrother!!!â // mars and trene and winnie being united by a mutual father and experience. they are brothers. they are friends. winnie finds happiness in helping rescue trene.
ânext time, i will kill you.â âi dare you to try.â // winnie is fair. winnie does not shoot oriel in the head because he helped them save trene. but she does shoot him in the foot. they are certain the next time they will aim elsewhere.
âthere is a pure white fox, slaughtered, itâs body soaked in a puddle of its own blood, a figure leaning over it.â // confirmation of her suspicions. there is only vengeance to seek and cast. to right this wrong requires blood. when winnie awakens, she is convinced. they do not think perhaps this is manipulation, something twisted.
âiâm going to kill oriel.â âi wonât that happen.â âgood luck with that.â // and then mars introduces doubt. gods, why did they do that! now winnie has to think about it, even thought their voice is steady. is there something else.
âi know you donât trust me. and i donât trust you. but youâre the only one I can go to with this.â // finally winnie reaches out to another person. velvel. they're both awful at this friend thing, but they join together to protect the party. both of them share secrets. winnie now has something to confide in, releasing a weight from her mind.
âand the repetition of your mother hitting the barrier, eventually something broke. and it was your dad.â // sadness. but not anger. winnie becomes sick of seeing her family die. even oriel. even oriel. even oriel.
âi hate you! i would kill you if i could! but i trust my friends more.â // and they do. trust beyond the rage in her heart. she does not raise the gun to oriel.
âdid i do something wrong?â âno, you never did anything wrong.â //Â and winnie sees just how regretful oriel is, that he would make blood fight blood. if he can be sorry for this, perhaps he is sorry for other things.
âi can make the fire bigger. the material isn't all bad.â // they can remake the sword, they can forge bullets from the aftermath, and they can forgive. maybe not now. but eventually.
âi would like to trade my powers for my daughterâs fatherâs life.â // and oriel takes the step to make amends. they can work together on this. for the first time since meeting him, winnie feels something more than kind towards oriel.
âyouâre my best friend. and if i donât see you again, iâm going to kill you.â //Â velvel and winnie are best friends. and winnie is able to say that. there is no more loneliness that traps her. it has been banished.
âwinnie goes home.â //Â they do. and they are able to return, changed for the better.
