i do love the costumes in wicked movie, but i was just thinking about the lost color symbolism

like fiyero, when we meet him, is red and white: a clear companion for galinda (who is all in white for the most part!! the only pink she ever wears is her ozdust dress- but since its still during the song where fiyero is introduced, its still fitting; he is essentially a masculinized mirror of galinda)

then we next see him in a very standard shiz uniform, to me showing how he's in a sort of malleable state. he's in-between priorities, hes very neutral, until he chooses to help elphaba during the scene dresses down

then in all of act 2 he's in green, ostensibly for the wizard but internally for elphaba

this whole journey is mirrored by galinda!! her shiz uniforms are all white, obviously a stark opposite to elphaba's dark looks. she maintains a warm color pallette for all of act 1; white and pink and during one short day/defying gravity, /yellow./ its the closest to green she wears, her close alliance with elphaba

then during act 2 her primary color is /blue/. shes gone past green on the color wheel, shes left it behind; shes trying so hard to find the middle ground between helping her friend and the position shes finally achieved that she is head to toe constantly in that color that represents being neutral
