This is a fun writing I did for @cece2046 as her belated birthday gift! I hope you love this!
Happy Belated Birthday, my loo breaks pal! ❤❤
Hermione laid flat on her back, eyes staring their bedroom ceilingー no, it wasn’t theirs anymore. There was no more their, no more them.
She rolled over to her right, laying on his spot. It was cold, as cold as his eyes that night.
“I’m leaving.”
It was short. Simple. Straight to the point. No pretense. It was one of the reason why he was so… him. She loved itー the fact that he’d never sugar-coat his words.
Hermione let out a small humourless laugh.
She could never attained that level of confidence, of not caring how two simple words could affect a person, of how he could just be selfish. He was like a two-way knife, sharp on both edges. Whilst she was just a mere butter knife, sharp, but never enough to cut.
“‘Mione, it’s time.”
Hermione turned her head to theirー to her bedroom’s door, where Ron and Harry stood, watching her with their understanding eyes.
“Can you give me like, five minutes? I just need to clean up a bit,” she said unconvincingly.
She knew they knew it wasn’t to clean up, it was so she could grieve, so she could mourn her own miserable state. And she was grateful that both Harry and Ron left her alone to have her five minutes without any judgement. She sat up, right on the edge of his side.
“It’s you, not me.”
The words glid out of his tongue oh so easily. No pause, no hitch, he said it loud and clear.
Hermione sauntered to her dressing table and stared at the woman in the mirror. Her skin was tan, not pale like him. Her hair was unruly, not sleek like him. Her eyes were dark brown, not light grey like him. She was everything that he wasn’t. And she would never be what he wanted.
“We’re here.” Harry swung the door open, helping Hermione step out of the car gently. Ron was already on her side, wrapping his sturdy arm around her shoulder. Harry took his spot on the other side of her. “Ready?”
“Yeah,” she answered.
The trio made their way into the offensive Ministry of Magic building. Ron pressed ‘down’ and the elevator took them straight to the dungeon, where Harry had his trial for fighting off Dementors before.
“Hermione Jean,” the booming voice of Head Warlock filled the courtroom, “would you please take your seat, please?”
Hermione sat on the chair right at the centre of the room. She could feel all eyes on her, the eeriness of the dungeon didn’t help. She looked around. There was only three judges present, as her case was not a full trial. Then her eyes caught a couple sat at the centre with her, right across of her. She could feel bile rose in her throat.
“This won’t take long. All you have to do is sign all the parchments and just be done with it,” said one of the judges to her and the couple.
“Yes of course,” Hermione said as the parchments now passed down to her. She took the quill and signed them all without a pause. She could hear the couple snickered from across of her and she would do anything just to sign faster if it was possible. “All done.”
“By the power of Head Warlock that has given to me, I now pronounce your marriage, successfully nullified. Trial adjourn.”
Hermione got up and turned her back on the couple quickly. She could just see the sneer her ex-husband, Draco Malfoy, gave her. And she could just imagine the atrocious look that his new wife giving her now. She could feel it, her rotten eyes drilled into the back of her head.
“I believe you are back to Miss Granger now, Miss Granger,” his new wife mocked.
Hermione halted. She took a deep breath before she turned to answer.
“Granger and proud,” she shifted her gaze to Draco, “I should have known. Of course you’d go back to her, Malfoy. After all, she was the one who elected you as the Head of The Inquisitorial Squad.”
“What can I say. She knows how to make things exciting,” Draco tightened his hold on his new wife.
“Congratulations,” was what Hermione said last to her ex-husband before she threw up right on Ron’s new shoes after seeing Draco Malfoy passionately kissing his new wife, Dolores Malfoy nee Umbridge.
