This One is Cursed - Boduf Songs

Boduf Songs are dark and slightly disturbing folk music, released on Kranky - an independent record label responsible for a lot of the ambient music I own as well as releasing music by bands like Low and Godspeed You Black Emperor!.

This eponymous album was Boduf Songs's first and essentially Kranky chose to release the demo recordings. I understand why they did this - the songs lend themselves to the gritty lo-fi quality and it would have been incredibly cheap to do so. They believed the songs were perfect as the were originally presented and maybe they were right - I listen to this album far more than it's studio recorded follow up.

This One Is Cursed is my stand out track of the album. I'm not a big computer game gamer but I did play WoW for some time and this song reminds me of warlocks in Elwynn Forest. This is also not the only song about witchcraft on the playlist but the one where the witches are winning.
