New Beginnings in Sunnyside
The Imago Dei Initiative inaugerated our Sunnyside (Queens) Home Group last night. It was a very good night of being together and considering how our lives and this Faith all fit together.
There are so many people who attend regular services, but who know very little about the Faith they proclaim. Some of them are intimidated to even begin to delve more intently, more deeply into Scripture, prayer, meditation, or even service by good works. They are hungry to learn and grow in their own experience - “to become mature, complete, and lacking nothing” in life and faith, as James writes.
This is what we do. We come together in a space that gives us the freedom to learn, to question, to discover - all to deepen our relationships with God and with one another. In the regular meeting together, in our study, in our discussion, in our prayer, in our wrestling with all of it, we are transformed into the image of Christ. We become evermore the imago Dei in the our everyday lives and among those with whom we rub shoulders regularly.
Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we ask or imagine; glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Jesus Christ for ever and every. Amen.
