sound is vibrations, yes - everything you've been saying to this point is correct as far as im concerned. in terms of how we interpret sound, the short of it is we have sensory endings in our inner ear that respond to specific vibration frequencies, same as how we have sensory endings in our retinas that respond to certain colours of light. what we hear is a result of which of those sensors are turned on. i have no idea if i answered your question or not?? is this what you were getting at
