Capstone / Permaculture: Solutions To Our Problems
__
1. In 140 characters or less, what is your capstone project about? Finding ways to amend our unnecessarily high energy use through smart gardening solutions. 2. What place in the world most inspires you and why? Australia, because it’s the birth place of permaculture and one of the most lushous landscapes in the world. I also believe a higher percentage of their population is proactive. 3. What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid? An artist. 4. Which of your co-ops was the most surprising for you? Brand-image (formerly known as LAGA). It was my first experience as a professional graphic designer and I learned a lot there. 5. What do you enjoy designing the most? Any print piece related to music and work which allows me to be more expressive in general. 6. What aspect of design excites you? The fact that it’s one of the few professions in the world where the left and right brain are equally important. 7. What are your aspirations for the future? To become as independent as possible, through permaculture of course. 8. How did you come up with the idea for your capstone? While listening to a podcast about a man who quit his job at an office and started growing food for himself. This same guy then founded his own permaculture group and now travels around the U.S. spreading knowledge of his techniques. 9. What is the part of your capstone that you are most excited about? Helping people to understand the energy problems of the future and the simple ways many of those problems could be solved. 10. You’ve just won $200,000! What do you do first? Release my family and close friends of all debt, buy land, and start growing. 11. If you could choose one dream client, who would it be and why? Sigur Rós, because they speak to so many people in a language that transcends verbal communication, and I’ve never met a fan of theirs that I didn’t like.
