summary: when the company spends the night at an inn, you get drunk and accidentally confess your love for the leader of the company, thorin.
“Hey, watch it!”
The Company tiredly made their way through the noisy crowd in the inn, no doubt getting some very curious stares. You were a part of that company of Dwarves, a Hobbit, and a Wizard. You were also the only female in The Company, but regardless of your gender, The Company made you feel comfortable and welcome. However, the strangers looking on decided to mock you for it. You heard rather loud whispers, calling you names like ‘whore’ and worse. Their laughter was cut short when you flashed your dagger at them, sending them a hard glare. They quickly diverted their gaze and kept their mouths sealed, clearing the path to let you through.
“Are they bothering you?” Thorin whispered from beside you, his eyes fixed on the two men who made the snide comments. Without letting you answer, Thorin started to storm over to the men. You immediately pulled him back.
“Relax,” you whispered. “I don’t want you to cause a scene.”
“But, Y/N--”
“No buts,” you interrupted. “Don’t worry, I think I already scared them off.” You were always underestimated, but you liked that. You enjoyed surprising people when you showed them what you were really capable of and that you weren’t just a mere woman. Thorin was one of those people. He was very reluctant to bring you on this journey, thinking you would just be dead weight and another mouth to feed. You were quick to prove him wrong. Soon, he changed from being judgmental to becoming your best friend.
Thorin grunted. “Fine, but you will let me know if they harass you.”
You rolled your eyes. “I’m not a child, Thorin. I know how to defend myself.”
Gandalf went to the front to talk to the innkeeper while the rest of The Company lounged around and got themselves something to drink. You joined Thorin’s nephews, Kili & Fili, who you have also grown close with. You pulled out a barstool beside them and took a seat.
“Hello, auntie,” Kili joked, prompting Fili to smack him on the arm. “Oh, come on, what was that for?”
“Excuse me?” you said. As taken back as you were, you felt blush form on your cheeks.
“Nothing, Y/N,” Fili said, rolling his eyes. “Kili’s already had too much to drink!”
“Why am I not surprised,” you sighed, the sound of Kili’s loud burp following. You soon joined the brothers in drinking, downing beer like your life depended on it. Other Dwarves of The Company started to drink with you, while some rested in their rooms. The Company hadn’t seen you drink so much since the start of your journey in Bag End when you practically raided Bilbo’s Hobbit hole.
“Y/N’s on her eighth pint of beer,” Dwalin announced. When Thorin, who wasn’t at all intoxicated, heard Dwalin’s shouts, he immediately rushed over to you.
“All right, Y/N, I think you’ve had enough for one night,” Thorin spoke calmly, trying to assist you down your barstool. You waved him off as you took big gulps of beer, the liquid spilling down your neck and cheek. “Come now, Y/N,” Thorin warned.
“Ugh, just let me unwind for tonight, Thorinnnn,” you whined, showing Thorin your pouty face. “It’s not every day I get regrettably drunk and hungover, right?!” Thorin was surprised with your attitude. You always seemed somewhat tame to him, but little did he know, you were an absolute party animal.
“Come down from there!” Thorin shouted as you climbed onto the table, beer in hand. You drunkenly swayed your body to the loud live music playing while everyone watched and cheered you on. As you danced, no longer sober enough to give a damn, you raised your pint and spilled the remaining beer all over your chest, laughing while doing so. Thorin grumbled when he noticed how the men stared at you, their eyes full of lust and desire. Enough was enough. In an attempt to bring you down, Thorin climbed onto the table with you. He was ready to scoop you into his arms and take you to your room. But when Thorin added his weight to the table, it crashed below him. You let out a startled shriek, but laughed anyways as your body landed atop Thorin. The onlookers laughed along with you, entertained by the drunk girl in their presence. But Thorin was not having it. He’s had enough of your jokes and wild behavior tonight. He carefully pushed you off him and got to his feet. Before you could protest, he held you by the wrist and tugged you with him.
“Thorin--!”
“Quiet,” Thorin shot back.
“But--! Ouch, you’re hurting me,” you whined. Thorin softened his grip on your wrist but didn’t let you escape from him. He took you to your room and slammed the door shut, causing you to jump. He then turned to you, his face almost red with anger.
“What has gotten into you, Y/N?! How could you be so stupid?!”
“But I didn’t even do anything,” you denied carelessly, sitting back on the bed. “I was just having fun and you spoiled it for me!”
“Look, your clothes are soaking! You put yourself on display for the men like a fool,” Thorin shouted, throwing his hands up in the air.
Thorin knew you were drunk. You obviously couldn’t think straight and you couldn’t control the way you acted, but he let his jealousy get the best of him.
“Did you not see the way the men gawked at you? Is that what you wanted?”
Despite Thorin’s harsh scolding, you giggled. “Well, I wasn’t seeking their attention,” you slurred. You sat up from your bed and approached Thorin.
“What are you talking about, Y/N?”
“You’re so busy all the time worrying, you never see the way I look at you.”
As much as Thorin wanted to believe your words, he denied you. “You’re drunk. You don’t know what you speak of.”
“I’m not drunk enough to forget how much I love you, Thorin,” you spoke, cupping Thorin’s face in your hand. You leaned in closer to him as he took in your sweet smell mixed with alcohol and sweat. “Please, Thorin,” you breathed out. “I need you tonight.” Thorin’s eyes widened. He reluctantly pushed you away from him but in a gentle manner.
“I will not take advantage of you in your state.”
As drunk as you were, you understood and you didn’t want to force Thorin.
“Come.” He sat you down on the bed, then searched through your bag for an extra dress. Thorin came back and sat beside you. “Are you wearing anything under this?” he asked, tugging at your dirty dress. You nodded sleepily. He stood you up, your back facing him.
Thorin gulped and began to unlace your corset. He threw it to the side and then slowly undid your dress, letting it fall to the floor. His breath hitched as he took in the sight of you wearing nothing but a slip and tights, your skin very much exposed to him. But he quickly snapped out of his daze and cleared his throat.
He helped you put on a clean dress and lead you back to bed, pulling the covers over you. It didn’t take much for you to fall asleep in your wasted state. Thorin chuckled to himself as he sat at the foot of your bed, knowing how hungover you’d be tomorrow. Then his mind drifted back to another thought - Would you remember any of this tomorrow? Thorin’s outburst, your confession.. Was it true? Or were you just drunk and horny? Thorin shook his head, sighing. Before he got up to leave your room, he kneeled by your side and placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
“Goodnight, amrâlimê.”

You knew it was wrong. Oh, so wrong. But you couldn’t help the way you felt. You didn’t mean to fall in love with Thorin, especially now that he’s found his soulmate. You’ve known Thorin for a while now and have always been close with him as friends. But you discovered that you had stronger feelings for him than just platonic love. As much as you liked to hope, you knew deep down that Thorin didn’t reciprocate the same feelings, and you would never end up together. And your thoughts were confirmed to be true. On Thorin’s birthday, his soulmate’s name appeared on his body. He later sought out a dwarrowdam with the same name, and when they found each other, they married. Since then, life hasn’t been the same. Every day, you’d spend less and less time with Thorin. He became busier with his wife and more distant with you, seeming not to care about your friendship anymore. It came to the point where you wouldn’t even exchange a ‘hello’ when you passed each other.
But no more. You didn’t care what his excuses were. You couldn’t stand being ignored like this. You needed to speak with Thorin.
Though Thorin tried to ignore the fact, he’s always been in love with you. Thorin was convinced that you’d end up together, but was devastated when your name wasn’t the one tattooed onto his body. Surely there must’ve been a mistake? But when he found his soulmate, who had his name tattooed on her body, he knew he couldn’t be with you. When Thorin received your letter, he was reluctant to meet you at first. He felt guilty for pushing you aside, and was unsure if it was a good idea to speak to you now, given the circumstances. His wife was pregnant, and Thorin knew revealing his true feelings for you would make things complicated. Despite it all, Thorin turned up. So here you were in the royal gardens where you both used to spend most of your time together. When you saw Thorin approach you, you couldn’t stop yourself from blurting out your thoughts to him.
“Thorin, I refuse to keep this up! I’m sick of you giving me the cold shoulder. I don’t understand what’s gotten into you!”
“Y/N,” he said calmly. Hot tears rolled down your cheeks, causing Thorin to let out a sad sigh. It was all his fault. “It’s not what you think it is. Believe me. Let me explain--”
“Ever since you’ve found your soulmate, it’s like you don’t care about me anymore! What kind of game is this? Were you just using me? Don’t I mean anything to you? I thought I was important.. I thought I meant more to you..” You mumbled the last part, hoping Thorin wouldn’t hear. But he heard your low whisper, and quickly caught on.
“Y/N..” Just as Thorin began to speak his reasoning, you cut him off. “I can’t keep watching from the sidelines like this.. I can’t just let you abandon me. Not before I do this..” You inhaled deeply, your breaths shaky. “I’ve been meaning to confess to you for a while now.. I--”
“Ghivashel!” You looked away from Thorin, your eyes falling on the source of the voice. Thorin followed your stare and looked to the entrance of the garden where his wife walked, quickly approaching you. A big smile spread across her face when she saw the face of her husband. Thorin sent her a weak smile and waited for her to catch up. You stood in the midst of them awkwardly, trying to hide your puffy eyes. “Ghivashel, I was looking all over for you! I thought we could spend some time together. Maybe discuss our child’s name. Don’t you think?” The queen was pregnant? Then, Thorin’s wife turned to face you, as if she had just noticed that you were standing there. You had your arms crossed, looking down to avoid her stares. “Oh, who’s this?” She sounded as polite as ever, but you sensed the annoyance in her voice.
“I do not think I have properly introduced you, Y/N.” Thorin spoke. Of course you haven’t, you thought. You haven’t even said a word to me since your birthday.
“That’s fine,” the queen spoke impatiently. “So, are you done here?”
“Oh, yeah, I’m done,” you growled lowly. With that, you stormed off, purposely bumping shoulders with the queen to shove her aside. You heard her let out a scoff of frustration, but you didn’t care. You walked away and never turned back.
That was months ago. Since then, you figured it was best that you kept your distance from Thorin. Many times he had tried to reach out to you, until you moved far away from Dale, disappearing without a trace.
“What do you mean you can’t find her?!” Thorin banged his fist on the table, the sound filling the room. “I don’t care how long it takes! You must bring her back!”
“Thorin, she is not your pet,” Balin spoke, becoming annoyed with Thorin’s behavior. “Y/N has her own life, too. I’m certain she is managing just fine out there.” Thorin slumped back down onto his seat.
“This is all my fault.. If I had told her sooner.. If I hadn’t been so foolish, she wouldn’t have run away..”
“You did what you could,” Balin rested his hand on Thorin’s shoulder. “You have a wife, now. And a child. Don’t they mean anything to you?” When Thorin didn’t respond, Balin sighed and left the room, leaving Thorin alone with his thoughts. Your words echoed in his head.
“Don’t I mean anything to you?”
Though you were not there to hear it, Thorin whispered, “You mean everything to me, Y/N..”

summary: you travel to hell, a forsaken and forbidden place deep in middle earth where evil creatures like devils and demons reside, not expecting that’s where you’d find your soulmate.
You crept off in the dark of the night, leaving your home in Heaven to travel to the place called ‘Hell’, inhabited by devils and monsters. Though you were an angel, the complete opposite of them, you weren’t afraid. They were just misunderstood creatures who made bad choices in their lives. And considering this wasn’t your first time sneaking away, you were confident. Your parents were against it, but you were never one to follow rules.
Living with angels and being one wasn’t perfect all the time. You were forbidden from crossing the borders of Heaven, in fear that you’d become corrupted like the forsaken creatures in Hell. After living in Heaven, each day like the last, you grew tired and figured you’d add some adventure to your life. Who knows? Maybe you’d find your soulmate in the least place you’d expect it.
After years and years of waiting, you became impatient. All your friends found their soulmates, leaving you. You wished you’d lay eyes on your special someone and finally see color. Everybody knows that you’d see color when you meet your soulmate, but you were sure that the system was broken. Maybe some people just never meet their soulmate. Unbeknownst to you, that was going to change today.
You spread out your pristine wings, gliding gracefully above the clouds, taking in the view and beauty of Middle Earth. You were tireless even after hours of traveling, finally landing in Hell. As you descended, the horned creatures looked up at you, shocked to see a pure angel in a land like this. Some devils were familiar with you, but you hadn’t made any friends as they became suspicious that you were some sort of spy. You tried to tell them that you had no reason to spy, but figured you couldn’t force them to trust you. Maybe in time they’d figure it out themselves.
You hummed to yourself as you walked down to the more ‘secluded’ area in the forest, ignoring the curious stares and whispers. For a place like a Hell, it was truly a beautiful forest. Hell wasn’t as people described it to be. It wasn’t a dreadful and sick realm surrounded by a ring of fire, where devils and demons tore each other apart. You thought it was quite beautiful; how the sky was canopied by dark clouds, and the way the old kingdoms of Middle Earth stood out on the hills.
Distracted by your thoughts, you were unaware of the monster sneaking up behind you, armed with a dagger. You finally turned around as the monster raised his hand, ready to strike you, until he was suddenly tackled to the ground. You let out a startled shriek as the two fought, your attacker’s body finally going limp. You couldn’t see the devil who saved you as his back faced your direction, but you felt safe.
“I-Is he dead?”
“No.” His gruff voice sent chills down your spine. “There’s no point in killing him. He will just come back. It’s Hell, after all,” he chuckled. Makes sense. He turned to face you, his eyes meeting yours. “That being said, what’s an angel like you doing he--”
You both went silent as slight tints slowly filled your vision, until everything burst with color. You looked around you, taking in the beautiful sight, when your mind drifted back to one thought; who triggered this? You spun around to face the devil in front of you, looking intently into his gleaming azure eyes. He was beautiful. His horns stuck out from the black hair which cascaded down his shoulders and framed his face, littered with a stubble beard that covered his sharp jawline. You couldn’t read the expression on his face, whether it was a disgusted or fascinated one, but his deep eyes were like a window into his soul. You could see the mixed emotions filling them as he fought himself on what to say or how to react.
“It cannot be,” he gulped. “Can you see it, too? The colors?”
“I...” You didn’t know what to say. You were stunned. How could this be? Was the system broken? There was no way you were paired with this fallen man. This devil. You backed off slowly.
“Don’t tell me you can’t see it!” the devil roared all of a sudden, causing you to flinch. His expression softened when he noticed you were frightened. “Menu aingeal..” [my angel] An overwhelming mix of emotions hit you all at once, causing hot tears to spill down your cheeks.
You whispered, “I’m sorry..” With that, you extended your wings and flew into the sky, your soulmate’s desperate yells drowned out as you soared through the air at a fast pace.
Thorin let out a pained shout, falling on his knees as he cried into his hands. How could he be so foolish? How could you, an innocent angel, want him? He was fallen. A monster, condemned to Hell because of his greediness. He didn’t deserve to even gaze upon such a pure being, yet the gods arranged for you to be soulmates, despite Thorin’s sins. Did he still have a chance? No, he wouldn’t let himself get his hopes up. There was no way you were coming back after learning that your soulmate was a devil.
But Thorin was wrong. You made it back up to Heaven where your parents awaited your arrival. You rushed towards them, ready to tell them the news.
“Mother! Father! I can see colors!”
“Nonsense. Since when?”
“Today! I met my soulmate!”
“Outside of Heaven?” Your mother scoffed.
“Yes, I..” you trailed off, remembering what had happened. Would it really be wise to tell them? They were your parents after all, but you knew they’d go berserk if they found out your soulmate was a devil.
Your father crossed his arms. “Well, come on. Tell us about him.”
“Or her,” your mother added.
You pursed your lips. “He’s.. He’s a devil.” You watched their expressions contort into a disgusted one. “Before you say anything, let me explain--”
“Are you out of your mind?!” your father argued. “You cannot go back! It’s too dangerous.”
“He’s my soulmate and he saved my life!”
“I don’t care who he is. I will not tolerate this! I forbid you going back there. You will never see your so-called soulmate again.”
“I don’t remember asking for your opinion,” you snarled. “If you’re against who the gods designed me to be with, I’ll have to leave, whether you approve or not.” With that, you whipped around and stormed out of your house, ignoring your parents calls.
Thorin secretly waited for your arrival, hoping you’d give him a chance. Thorin learned that you’d visit the forests several times, so that’s where he waited. Hours turned into a day, and you never came. Discouraged, Thorin got up to leave, accepting the fact that you’ve left him behind, but the sudden gust of wind stopped him in his tracks. He turned around and looked up into the sky where you hovered over him. Thorin’s mouth hung open, taking in your ethereal beauty as you descended before him. Your feet finally hit the ground and you slowly approached Thorin without breaking eye contact.
“You came back,” Thorin breathed out, a glimpse of hope in his eyes. You gave him a small smile of reassurance.
“Of course I did.. Couldn’t keep you waiting,” you joked lightly. “I’m sorry I flew off like that the other day. I didn’t know how to react.”
“You’re here now, and that’s all that matters,” Thorin said carefully, as if you’d break if he slipped up with his words. After seconds of silence, Thorin opened his mouth to speak, but you caught his lips, closing the distance between you. He didn’t hesitate to kiss you back and pull you closer, his touch hot against your skin. Your hands wandered up his chest to his shoulders, running your fingers through his raven-black hair. You gave it a light tug, earning a gasp from Thorin. You took that chance to slip your tongue past his bottom lip and tangle it with his. How long this went on, you didn’t care. This was exactly where you wanted to be. In your soulmate’s arms, kissing desperately like there was no tomorrow.
You eventually pulled away breathlessly, heat rising in your cheeks as your eyes met with Thorin’s.
“You know,” Thorin bit his lips. “I wasn’t expecting that from you.” You giggled in response, and went in for another quick kiss.
“We’ll try to make this work. I promise,” you whispered against his lips.

“You know what? Grab your bags and get the fuck out!” Your angry shouts rang throughout the whole house. “I never wanted anything to do with you to begin with! Leave!”
“Y/N, I know you don’t mean that--”
“Just shut up! Shut up!” you silenced Thorin. You squeezed your eyes shut, looking away from him. “Get out and leave me alone.”
“Amrâlimê, listen to me,” Thorin said softly, despite your harsh words.
“Don’t fucking call me that! I am not your love and you are not mine! Leave and never come back,” you sobbed, hiding your face in your hands. You knew you were lying, and so did he. You’ve only ever loved Thorin, but your cutting words shattered his heart. He didn’t want to part with you on bad terms.
You felt Thorin’s calloused, yet soft hands wrap around your wrists, pulling your hands away to uncover your tear-stained face. “Will you please look at me?” You kept your eyes tightly closed. You knew facing him would only hurt you more.
“Please, Thorin. Just go.. Save me the pain.”
“I am not going to part from you like this, so dammit, Y/N, look at me!” You slowly opened your eyes, looking into Thorin’s baby blues. His eyes, like yours, were filled with hot tears threatening to spill. He brought his hand up to caress your cheek, his thumb wiping away the waterfall of tears rolling down your face. You grabbed Thorin’s hand, holding it tightly and desperately, “Thorin, don’t go. Please. I need you here.”
“I will return, ghivashel. I promise you.” Thorin pulled you into a deep, sweet kiss, feeling his stubble tickle your face and tears mix with his. summary: thorin begins to grow concerned about your change of attitude and confronts you about it.
You had been sleeping in lately, not attending to your duties. Today was one of those days. You woke up in the late afternoon, scolding yourself for having such a fucked up sleep schedule. You sigh, but don’t bother to get out of bed. You just laid down, looking up at the stone ceiling. You weren’t usually like this. You used to be so energetic and up for anything, but the past week has been hell for you. You were mocked by dwarrowdams and dwarrows when Thorin wasn’t around, just because you weren’t their kin. You were late to important meetings, gaining a bad reputation. The bustle of the kingdom stressed you out immensely, you found yourself wishing you weren’t a queen. Thorin himself was busy as well, so you never had time with him. You were miserable and had to deal with it alone. Or so you thought. The door to your chambers opened, Thorin promptly stepping in with a concerned expression etched onto his face.
“Y/N?” You wiped the angry tears spilling from your eyes, sitting up to face Thorin. When he saw your puffy eyes and redness, he immediately rushed to your side, engulfing you in a warm hug. “Amrâlimê, what’s the matter? I’ve been worried sick about you. I received word that you haven’t been turning up to meetings, or anywhere at all.”
“I’m fine,” you said, the shakiness in your voice saying the opposite. Thorin pulled away to get a good look at you. Your eyes were bloodshot and tired, your hair was unkempt and you looked sick. Thorin shook his head,
“Tell me,” Thorin commanded softly, his thumb brushing away another hot tear rolling down your cheek. You looked away in shame, only for Thorin to grab your chin and pull you to face him. “I am your husband and king, Y/N. I told you I’d always be here to tend to your every need.”
You gulp. “I know that.. It’s just that I’ve just been so out of it, lately. I don’t even feel like a queen; just a failure and disappointment.”
“We all have our hard days, Y/N. Everybody looks up to you. You’ve been doing perfectly.”
“Apparently not. Maybe you should find a different queen or something..”
Thorin’s eyes went wide. “Y/N, don’t you dare say anything like that!”
“Well that’s what everybody seems to want! Maybe you should ask them what they think of their beloved, human queen!” Thorin was silent, processing what you had just said. You cried, “I’m sorry, Thorin. I love you. I didn’t mean to snap.. It’s just so overwhelming.” You hugged him once more, hiding your face in his chest. You felt him sigh heavily and hold you tightly.
“What do they say?” his tone was steady and gentle, but you could tell he was fuming.
“When you’re not around, they call me all sorts of stuff. That I don’t belong in Erebor with you.. That I didn’t have any right to sit on the throne.”
“Who?” Thorin asked angrily. “Nobody has the right to judge who I choose to be my queen.”
“Thorin, please don’t do anything to them..”
“They need to be punished, Y/N.”
“Yeah but..” you look up at Thorin, giving him the puppy eyes he could never say no to. “Can we deal with it later? I’ve barely had any time to spend with you this week.”
Thorin raised a brow, a small grin spreading across his face. “Cuddles?”

After what seemed like a whole day of attending to his royal duties, Thorin fled from the Kingdom of Erebor and headed for Dale, where he would visit his best friend of five years; Y/N. She wasn’t royalty. Y/N was just a simple city girl living in Dale. She didn’t befriend Thorin for his wealth or status. She genuinely liked him, which was rare for Thorin. He did have friends, yes, but it was hard to trust any women, as they were always after the money. When Thorin made it to Dale, everybody recognized him instantly. Some just backed off, cowering away from the prince, while most respectfully greeted him.
“Thorinnnnn!” Save for one girl. Thorin turned his head in the direction of the noise. His thin lips curved up into a smile when he recognized it to be Y/N. She rushed over to Thorin, immediately engulfing him in a hug. Afterwards, they both pulled back, still holding each other while walking through the city. As they passed by, people sent them curious glares. Why was a prince with this common city girl? A few jealous dwarrowdams purposely bumped shoulders with Y/N, muttering insults to her. Y/N just sent the ladies a smirk and held Thorin tighter, making sure they were still watching. They scowled at her, but walked off when Thorin turned around to see what the fuss was about.
“Bitches,” Y/N huffed under her breath. “They’re always pretending like they’re so tough, but they’re nearly half my height and I can easily stomp them.” Thorin looked over at Y/N with a bewildered expression.
“Y/N! What are you talking about?”
“Ugh, it’s the women. They’re always giving me shit for being your friend. Or slut, quote unquote.”
“Why did you never tell me about this until now?”
“I didn’t really find it to be a big deal. You have other things to be concerned about,” Y/N shrugged. “Speaking of.. Why were you late again, today? I was waiting for you to turn up.”
Thorin groaned, “My father kept me delayed. I’m sorry, mudùmel.” Y/N brushed off his apology.
“Well, while your royal ass was busy, I found a secluded area outside the walls where no one will bother us.”
“Outside of the walls? I thought we made an agreement that you wouldn’t wander outside of the walls unless necessary!”
Y/N playfully giggled at Thorin’s light scolding. “Aw, why? Are you worried about me?”
“You are just a woman, Y/N. You are so vulnerable,” Thorin said seriously, causing Y/N to roll her eyes.
“Dear Gods, you sound like my father.”
“You need to learn to listen, Y/N. Your stubbornness will be the death of you. People will see you as an easy target, and I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
“If I’m so weak, how’d I defeat you during our sparring session last week?”
Thorin bit on his tongue, keeping him from arguing any further. Y/N smirked, knowing she had won.
Thorin sighed defeatedly, “All right, Y/N. I trust you. Lead the way.”
“So, what do you think?”
Thorin was in awe. They were surrounded with white trees, dripping with icicles that sparkled in the light. It was quiet and peaceful, and the area looked untouched. Definitely a change, considering Thorin wouldn’t get out as much due to his responsibilities in the kingdom. His head was constantly filled with clamor and chattering coming from the Dwarves back home. But when he was with Y/N, it was easy for him to unwind and relax.
“Y/N.. It’s beautiful,” Thorin spoke softly, causing Y/N to grin widely.
“See? I knew you’d like it!” She then proceeded to walk over to a stone bench, taking a seat and patting the empty spot beside her. Thorin joined Y/N, wrapping his arms her while enjoying the view. They sat in silence together, simply enjoying each other’s presence and the serenity of being in nature, until Thorin noticed that Y/N was shivering.
“Y/N, cold already?” He teased, but there was a hint of real concern in his voice.
“Hey, I’m not a dwarf. I can’t handle cold weather like you can,” she shot back, pouting. “Not to add this bench is freezing!”
Thorin raised his eyebrows suggestively. “Sit somewhere else, then.”
Y/N immediately caught on. She glanced at Thorin, a slightly shocked but giddy smile plastered on her face at his boldness. “Or do you want your bottom to freeze?” In one swift movement, Y/N climed atop Thorin, legs curled up on his lap and arms wrapped around his broad shoulders. Thorin chuckled at her blushing face, only making her blush more.
“Stoppp, you’re making me feel awkward,” she whined, smacking Thorin in the chest. “I’ll get off if you don’t stop.”
“Then do it,” Thorin challenged.
Y/N pondered for a moment, before huffing. “No, I’d much rather be here.” At that, she sat upright, properly straddling Thorin.
Now it was Thorin’s turn to blush. “Really, now?” Y/N simply hummed in response, her fingertips lightly brushing over Thorin’s stubble beard. She then cupped Thorin’s face, pulling him closer to her. A small gasp escaped Thorin, causing Y/N to giggle at the effect she had on him. Thorin was now at the mercy of this woman, all confidence and boldness suddenly washed away.
“Right here,” Y/N whispered, before she pressed her soft lips onto Thorin’s. He was quick to kiss her back hungrily, wrapping his arms around her waist and pushing his groin against her core. All their built up tension over the years was finally being released into the lust-filled, passionate kiss they shared. It felt surreal. Thorin always knew that he loved Y/N, though he was unsure if she would accept his feelings, or if she just viewed him as a friend. But all the doubts and worries that picked at his mind were erased when Y/N showed how she truly felt about the young Dwarf prince. Though they didn’t want to, Thorin & Y/N barely pulled away from the heated kiss for air, pressing their foreheads against each other. Their hearts were racing as they grasped the fact that their ‘friendship’ would completely change, now.
Still panting, Thorin breathed out, “Marry me.”

“Y/N! Wait--!” Thorin called for you. You just brushed him off and kept your pace, running into the abandoned manor. You stopped at the entrance and turned to watch Thorin, who breathlessly was chasing after you.
“Slowpoke,” you teased, sticking your tongue out at Thorin.
“Y/N, we shouldn’t be here.”
You raised your eyebrows. “Why not? You scared?” Thorin shot you a cold look in an attempt to intimidate you, but you ignored his grumpiness and proceeded to walk into the dark ruins. Despite his threatens to leave you there if you didn’t come out, he trailed behind you.
“I bet a lot of people died here. Spooky,” you said all too casually, alarming Thorin.
“I take it that you explored ruins in your own world?”
“Mhm. I used to sneak into old abandoned warehouses with my friends.” You held your candle in front of you, cautiously wandering further into the decrepit house.
“Warehouses?”
“Never mind.”
After searching the lower levels and finding nothing but cobwebs and glass shards, you climbed up the stairs to the second story. There must’ve been at least six to explore. Breaking the silence, you spoke up.
“I don’t know if this is a thing in Middle Earth, but in my world, we believe that when you die, your spirit can still linger in the world of the living and haunt them.”
Thorin shivered slightly at your words. “Do you not have an afterlife?”
“I mean,” you shrugged. “Yeah. I guess it really depends. I don’t know. Religion is confusing.” Thorin simply hummed in response and continued to follow you. “If only I had a Ouija Board,” you sighed disappointingly.
“A what?”
“Oh, it’s tool you can use to contact the souls of the dead.” Then, an idea popped into your head. “Maybe I could make one here!”
“Have you lost your mind?” Thorin asked, causing you to laugh at his bewildered expression.
“Lost it long ago, babe.”
Thorin huffed. “I am far from a child, Y/N.”
“Babe doesn’t mean an actual kid, dummy. It’s a term of endearment you call someone you’re dating.” Thorin nodded his head at your explanation absentmindedly, until he actually processed what you had just said.
“Y/N-- I-- But-- Are we--”
“Oh, shut up and just help me.” You gestured for him to follow you into what you presumed to be some sort of library room.
“What are you looking for?”
“Just a blank paper and ink.”
You pulled out a large, dusty book and opened it up. The first page was completely blank, so you tore it out.
“You can’t just do that!”
“Well I did,” you shot back. “Plus, what are the home owners gonna do?”
“But there aren’t any.”
“Exactly.”
You carried on, looking for something to use as a planchette. Conveniently, you stumbled upon a small, glassy piece, carved into the shape of an oval. It wasn’t perfect, but it would hopefully work. After searching, Thorin found a small bottle of ink and handed it to you. (Okay, at this point, the ink would probably be dried up, but for the sake of the fic, we’re gonna pretend it’s still useable! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) You placed your candle in front of the paper and gestured for Thorin to sit across from you.
“So, how exactly does this work?”
“Shush, let me focus,” you tell him, carefully drawing a Ouija Board from your memory. Thorin wasn’t used to being told what to do. Especially by a woman, but then again, you had only been getting used to Middle Earth and you had no idea what was appropriate and what was not. “Okay, finished. While we wait for the ink to dry, I might as well explain to you the do’s and don’t’s of using a Ouija Board.”
“I am listening.”
“First of all, we both have to keep our hands on the planchette,” you tell him, holding the glass piece up. “I’ll be the one asking questions. If there are any spirits here, they’ll answer by sliding the planchette over to ‘yes’ or ‘no’, or spelling out any words. Keep quiet. And no rude remarks! When the session is over, we slide the planchette over to ‘goodbye’ to properly end it.”
“Are you sure about this, Y/N?” Thorin asked, clenching his jaw. You give him a small, playful smile.
“The worst that can happen is either us dying, or getting possessed!”
Thorin is, at this point, at loss for words. He’s positive that you’re crazy. You take Thorin’s hand and place it over the planchette with yours. Hesitantly, you call out, “Is there anyone here with us?” Everything is still and unnervingly quiet, causing your heart to beat fast in anticipation. After nearly a minute of waiting, the planchette started to move.
“Are you moving it?” you whisper-yell to Thorin, who’s face was drained of any color. He just shook his head ‘no’, and kept his eyes on the planchette. It hovered over the ‘yes’. You took a breath, and asked another question. “Did you live here?” The planchette moved across to ‘no’. You look up at Thorin, who didn’t exactly seem at ease.
“Do you wanna ask a question?” you asked lowly. He nodded in response. You stayed quiet after that, awaiting Thorin’s question.
“Are we talking to an evil spirit?”
‘Yes’.
When that was answered, Thorin tensed up. He looked at you, unsure, but you kept going, now treading more carefully and making sure not to ask any inappropriate questions. This went on for a good ten minutes, until it started to get dark and you silently decided you would ask one more question.
“Will I ever make it back to my own world?”
‘Yes’.
“How?”
It took a minute for the planchette to get moving again. More speedily than usual, it slid over several letters on the paper, spelling out ‘Leave now’. You nervously looked up at Thorin, who was still frightened. Despite being scared, he calmly nodded, agreeing that you should get going before things escalated. You directed the planchette over to ‘goodbye’, ending the session. Without any further words, you left the Ouija Board on the floor, picked up the candle, and rushed out the house. Thorin silently followed you until you made it outside.
“So are we not going to talk about what just happened?”
“What’s there to talk about? It was pretty simple. We made it out in one piece.”
“.. You weren’t moving the planchette, were you?”
“I wouldn’t fool around with that kind of stuff.”
After that, silence. You both made your way out of the forest you had explored that day, and soon enough, you were back in Erebor. You didn’t have anywhere else to stay yet, so despite it being considered inappropriate, Thorin let you sleep in his chambers. You laid in bed after freshening up and getting changed into some dwarrowdam dress, which fit you perfectly. Thorin came back after attending to his kingly duties and explaining what delayed him. He noticed that you were zoned out, staring out the window with a longing expression on your face.
“Y/N? What are you thinking of?” His voice snapped you back to reality. You turned your head to face him.
“Oh, uhm.. It’s nothing.”
He took a seat beside you on the bed. “It’s clearly something.”
“Just thinking of my home. That’s all.” Thorin frowned. He knew how much you wanted to return to your world, and it would be selfish of him to keep you. You didn’t belong in here. It was unlikely that you would adapt to Middle Earth, and you probably had family back home. Still, he would miss your company. It had been a while since he formed a real friendship with someone who didn’t care about his position or wealth.
“D-Do you wish to leave Middle Earth?” Thorin tried his best not to sound so needy or caring, but you had figured him out quickly.
You raised an eyebrow at him, “Do you want me to?”
Thorin nervously shook his head. Sighing, he admitted, “I’ve grown very fond of you, Y/N, although you may not feel the same. I know all you want is to go back home, and I understand..”
Your lip curled up into a smirk. “Is that your way of saying you want me to stay?”
