the concept of torchbearer acting as a judas goat; leading each and every clancy to the slaughter, leading them to the tower because the universe needs its star. the cycle cant be broken, the cycle needs to be kept alive and fed so that the balance remains. every new clancy talks about their hopes and dreams when they find their way to camp thanks to torchbearer, while looking at the sky with their previous iterations shining so bright up there but they dont know they are staring up at a mirror. and torchbearers flame looks safe and warm and inviting in the darkness, and every clancy gets closer and closer until its too late. they all follow his trusting eyes and they all burn the same way.
