What about your fnf era? And still wich favorite character?
Oh, yeah, I'm still a fan of FNF. Haven't drawn anything for it in a bit, but I regularly consider scenarios involving my favorites, and I have a concept I REAAAALLY want to make a fic for once I finish my Licorice Cookie redemption fic(Which I will be finishing, so help me god).
My favorite character hasn't really changed since I first learned more about him(Though, second place has had some variance), and I'd say it's no contest that Whitty is my favorite character to ever be involved with FNF in any way. I am very attached to that big ol' pathetic doomsday weapon.
I think it's the tragedy of it all that got me. If the whole thing had just been 'living bomb with anger issues', then sure, he'd probably still seem cool, but I don't think he would've ended up as my favorite. No, no the REAL draw was in the LORE!
For those who may or may not already know: A major part of Whitty's lore involves his trying to avoid The Greater Good(Which I usually abbreviate to TGG, though I've seen others abbreviate it as 'The GG' before), and the main reason they're after him in the first place is, of course, because of what he is. TGG's main goal, as a group, is essentially to try and 'protect humanity' from those they deem to be 'monsters'. There's a few ways to interpret how exactly they go about that for most others, but the bottom line is that the way they're trying to do that for Whitty is by trying to kill him. Thus, this leaves Whitty in a scenario where he kind of is left feeling helpless, and he's forced to be on the run.
Now, in the mod, all that running and hiding does nothing to stop BF from finding and challenging him, but it puts a lot of stress on him overall. I personally imagine that part of the reason he crashes out so badly when BF doesn't let him back out of the rap battle, is because Whitty's used to his main way of protecting himself being by fleeing what's causing issues. BF insisting on the rap battle, however, doesn't allow him to just run away, and the stress that causes is not helped by the sirens that start to be able to be heard during Overhead. Hence the crash out that leads to Ballistic by the end of it! This is all just my interpretation of the 'why' though, so my theorizing is not really canon in the slightest.
Point is! I like Whitty enough as a character to have ended up thinking through all that stuff, and enough to have placed interpretations, and headcanons, and come up with scenarios to place him into, and imagined how he would react. Out of all the characters I've become fans of over the years, Whitty is by far the one I've thought of the most scenarios to. Y'all have NO idea how many concepts I've come up with for this man.
Anyway. I appreciate the ask! It's been a minute since I've gotten to think about FNF in the context of Tumblr(It's mostly been AO3 for trying to find stuff about Whitty, recently). I'm glad to have had the chance to ramble a little.
