Date: July 7th, 1984 Location: Dirk & Nicky’s flat @ofemmevance
The date they’d gone on earlier in the day had been awkward to say the least, with Marlene showing up and Dirk making a damn fool of himself trying to both impress Emmeline, while avoiding Marlene at the same time. He didn’t know what to say about it, though, so he just decided not to talk about it at all. It was rather unfortunate, given it was their first actual date - because he didn’t really think a party at his flat where she began thinking he was in a relationship really counted, even if they ended up as a couple that night.
It was nice now, though. Now that they were back at his place, laying in his bed, talking and kissing and just being together. He liked it best this way - just the two of them, no one to try and mess with things between them. Since his party, he’d seen Emmeline a couple of times, either at his place or her new house with James. The older bloke was a bit intimidating in Dirk’s opinion, but Potter had turned out nicer to him than Dirk would’ve assumed.
He would’ve thought James Potter was like Marlene McKinnon, after all the stories he’d heard. After seeing him in school a few years ahead of him.
They were talking about the most recent, which they hadn’t had that much time to discuss between all the, erhm, other activities they’d been doing since getting together. They haven’t had sex yet, not that Dirk really cared, but there had been plenty of kissing and things to occupy them. Still, it was nice to be able to just talk to her like they used to before kissing got in the way and he was laying on his back with an arm under his head, tilting his head to look at her laying next to him.
It was good that they could talk about the Order. No secrets between them like that. “Yeah,” he began after she brought up the tattoo idea that had been discussed in the meeting. “I’m just waiting for someone to come after me about it, if I’m being honest. There were a few people that did not look pleased with the idea.”
