Mornings had never been Molly’s strong suit, but this one had been going particularly badly, and it just didn’t seem to end. First, she had overslept and barely gotten Willy to school on time, and then she had been gotten home to find a dog barking on her front porch. It wasn’t that she minded dogs. Quite the opposite actually, she had always been a sucker for strays after all, but this dog was different. It had none of the usual indicators that it was, in fact, a stray. He seemed like he belonged to someone and was just lost on his way home. She was going to be late to open the shop, but something needed to be done. She rushed into the house and grabbed a leash out of one of the still unpacked boxes (from the last dog they had fostered) and headed back out to the porch. The dog let her leash him easily enough (more proof he was a pet), and even seemed to have a great time in the car while she headed to town, he wouldn’t stop pulling on the leash once they arrived. She hadn’t been sure if she was going to take him tot he shop for the day or head straight to the humane society to see if he had been chipped. Either way, all of the tugging had caused Molly to unexpectedly stumble forward. The coffee she had been holding spilled over her hands, and she hissed sharply when the hot fluid burned her skin, dropping the leash without realizing. She barely managed to look up in time to see the dog lurch at someone a few feet away and yell, “No!” Quickly hurrying towards them, Molly pulled the pup off before she could lick all over the man’s face and said with a distressed expression, “I am SO sorry. We’re still getting to know each other. It’s been a… rough morning. Did he hurt you?”
