Clean Up || MJ & Topher

Location: one of the little kiddie schools @minmoon-ji​

The thirteen year old pointed at the red crayon. Topher narrowed their eyes and pointed at the blue one. The thirteen year old pointed at the red crayon even more forcefully, Topher did the same but for the blue one. They stared at each other, until another kid picked up an orange crayon and started to fill in the empty square with orange. Topher and the little rebel stared at her with wide-eyes. Then everyone was ushered out of the room at the sound of the bell, and Topher stayed behind. They looked up at MJ and gestured at the drawings that had been left behind. “We hang these?” they asked.

On any given day, Pavel Chekov was a talkative person. No one could stop him from talking about a topic if he put his mind to it. But today, the young man was absolutely silent. The last away mission had left the young man in an almost traumatised position as Christine attempted to aid him. As she wiped some blood from his face, Pavel attempted to speak.

“T-Thank you…”

“This is my job,” Christine offered gently, although strictly speaking her shift had ended and he’d been released ( he was physically all right, after all, and the rest of the surviving away team still required observation, ) to clean up in his own time.

But she liked Pavel and days like this were exactly why she disapproved of the ’Fleet accepting anyone so young. She knew the young lieutenant was as smart and capable as they could hope for, but no one his age should have that look in their eyes.

“You don’t have to thank me, sweetheart...” She squeezed his shoulder with her free hand as she shifted to sponge over his temple, giving him a soft half-smile, and decided she didn’t want to leave him on his own. “Could I convince you to sit and have a tea with me?”

“Someone get the fucking janitor in here, I fucking spilled again,” he grumbled over the phone before slamming it down.

Second glass he had knocked over today. It was just a glass that was lying on the ground- it wasn’t even broken. But that’s what a janitor was for, right? And he had a stack of paperwork sitting in front of him that he needed to get to.

Also, he didn’t want to stain the rug that lay beneath his massive desk.
