Starstruck || Iris & Elli
@flowerpowernovelist
Elli hid behind a bookcase, clutching a novel to her chest. This was it. It was now or never!
She peeked around the shelves to see the blonde woman talking to a patron before Elli quickly hid again.
Who was she kidding, she had all the time in the world! There was no reason to rush... other than the fact the library closed in a few hours. But this was Iris Dupont. THE Iris Dupont. Author of one of Elli’s favorite novels: Yours, Always. The very book she held at that moment.
The blonde woman was a familiar face at the library, but not just because Elli was a frequent visitor. She’d always had a sinking suspicion she knew her from somewhere, but couldn’t place her finger on it. Not until she was reorganizing her bookshelves and say Iris’ face staring up at her from the back cover.
Perhaps it’d be odd for someone to bring their personal book to the library, but Elli was there on a mission; she was going to get Iris’ autograph. As long as the woman allowed it, of course.
But Elli was so nervous!
Sure she’d talked to Iris before, but it was always as a patron and librarian relationship. This was different. No other author ever stepped foot on Arcadia--this was Elli’s chance to meet someone who penned one of the stories she absolutely loved.
What if Iris hated people asking for autographs? What if she hated Elli? That was a possible reality she was not prepared to face. But... what if the opposite happened? It’d been two weeks since Elli realized who Iris was. She left the house today determined to meet Iris as a fan and author.
‘Okay, in three seconds I’ll go say hi. One.... two... three... four...’
With a deep breath she turned the corner. Iris was no longer talking with another patron. It was now or never.
“Excuse me, M-miss Dupont?” Elli asked as she approached, “My name is Elli and I’m a huge fan and, uhm, if you don’t mind, couldyousignmyYours,Always?” Elli internally cringed. She was already off to a bad start.
