James looked at her trying to remain calm “How do you know that? I mean I be the only one. With how long I have been working in and running the E.R something like this should be easy, it shouldn’t scare me. Compared to what I have seen all my Years as a Trauma Surgeon… This is nothing”
“How do I know that? Have you met my 10 year old? You know, that cute little blond kid who has an unhealthy comic book obsession? She’s how I know this is normal.” She cradled the still crying baby against her chest. Their little boy was red faced, but fine. “Look, do you see that little white thing in his mouth? That’s a tooth, James. And little man isn’t a fan of it coming in. But he’s fine. The crying is normal and the fever is normal. I promise. All your years in trauma aren’t really meant to prepare you for these normal everyday things.”
