jeongguk doesn't have the strongest quirk, and he's not an offensive type. there's nothing that really screams hero about him. all he has is the stealth he isn't really good at, his venom and his gross peeling skin. oh, and seismic sense stuff-- but when can he actually use that in battle? in any form of hero work? all he's good at is sensing things and spitting venom and maybe biting but that's it. there's nothing remotely heroic about jeongguk despite his ideals and mindset-- and god, he wants to be a hero so badly. he wants it, so he can find his brother-- save his brother from whatever mess he's gotten himself into; bring him back to where he really belongs.
shock is the first thing that settles on his face as he blinks at the other before him. mouth parting-- his forked tongue slithering out in quick little jerks as he tries to let his brain catch up to what's going on. his mind is whirring, a mile a minute as his brows pinch. the shock fades into something more akin to confusion, and he blinks owlishly behind his spectacles.
"you...want to help me? me?" there's disbelief in his voice, incredulous expression making a home on his features. his mouth parts and closes, repeating the action once or twice before he's sputtering. "u-um. you really don't have to-- that-- that'sss not necesssssary! i u-um. i ssshould be...okay..." he doesn't sound too sure, sounds a bit too weak. he darts his gaze down and stares at the ground, fingers tugging at the bottom of his shirt.
