He didn’t notice the sound of the cups hitting wood; what startled him was the cursing tone, head snapping towards the direction, searching for the owner of the frustration in the silence. Disoriented, brows furrowed above over worked eyes, squinting slightly to clearly see the form. He hadn’t seen another soul in the library for hours. Even the librarian had pretty much retired, snoozing in her chair at the front desk.
“It-it’s alright. I wasn’t really expecting anyone else either.” Certainly not at this hour. Perhaps when daylight begun to rise, the student often staying the whole night in the library tucked away. He knew he shouldn’t tonight. It would be wise to go back to his dorm and try to rest before having to speak for one of his good friends. They were a professor, hearing of the boy wonder and asking him to come and lecture. Spencer was speaking on the Structure Determination by X-ray Crystallography and The Elements of Quantum Chemistry. The books in front of him weren’t for the lecture tomorrow, having all of that information already stored in binders at his dorm. And all encased forever in that marvelous brain of his.
