Psionic vs. Astral || Manny & Lucy
There’d been reports of some citizens disappearing around Pansaw that had come to C.A.R.M.A’s attention. Usually this was more in line with the Pansaw Police Department’s territory, but the scenes where some of the bodies were eventually found presented some alarming visuals. The discovered bodies were practically destroyed in what most agents had described as a “wrathful frenzy” akin to an animal. That wasn’t the worst part, however. These scenes where the corpses turned up had blood-written messages foreshadowing the Nephilim’s return. Naturally, that was where C.A.R.M.A had to get involved.
Any incident relating to the Nephilim, its former members, or their potential return fell right into C.A.R.M.A’s top priority of missions. The organization refused to let another supremacist group or attack happen again if they had the means to stop it.
It’d taken a few weeks, but witness accounts eventually got them a suspect and a warrant for arrest. The woman in question turned out to be Lucy Cage, though no one knew if she was a Metahuman or not, but if she was spreading Nephilim propaganda, it seemed safe to assume Meta. That was why Manny was sent out on this particular mission; his telepathic and psionic detection abilities could get a better idea of what she might be capable of before a potential fight happened. Through some research, he tried her home first with no answer. A quick mental inspection with his hand against the door proved that no one was home, so he expanded his search for this woman. Biodome Park. After returning to his C.A.R.M.A-issued vehicle, he made his way straight there.
Manny stepped out into the park a few minutes later, highly aware of psionic energy in the area. There appeared to be at least three Metas currently out here, but which one was Lucy? Checking the artist sketch he had in his digital files for the face to look out for, he found her in the middle of the field. As he walked closer he could feel the waves of psionic energy radiating off her. She was definitely some sort of psionic, but precisely what, he couldn’t quite tell yet – the one downside of that ability there. He’d have to poke around her mind for some clues.
“Lucy Cage,” Manny announced himself in the very formal, professional “agent tone” he’d practiced. He went through the usual routine of showing his virtual badge from his standard C.A.R.M.A wrist gauntlet. “On behalf of C.A.R.M.A, I’d like you to come with me. We have some questions for you in regards to some missing persons and homicide cases we’ve been investigating.”
