i'm dream in a dream
The last thing Daeshim remembered was performing for Mnet after spending about two hours trying to overcome his stage fright, and then finally collapsing in bed and passing out once the adrenaline wore off. Being sore after a big performance was normal for him, but Daeshim felt like he was hit by a train. His body felt like lead and everything ached, but nothing hurt as bad as his head, which was was throbbing so horribly he was afraid to open his eyes. As he slowly came to, he heard a steady, continuous beeping sound, as well as what sounded like a machine whirring.
Was it his alarm? What happened? Was he sick? Daeshim braved opening his eyes and immediately regretted it when the light burned his eyes, prompting him to clench them shut with a pained groan. His next thought was that he was suffering from the world’s worst hangover, but he couldn’t remember drinking. He whimpered, his eyes slowly fluttering open and staring up at the ceiling in a daze.
His head ached, and it made his thoughts slow and fuzzy, but it didn’t take too long for him to figure out that this wasn’t his room. It was sterile, cold, and his bed was too firm. He tried to move his arm to push himself out of bed, but he was met with resistance, and he realized that there was a tube in his arm, causing him to rapidly beginning to panic. This wasn’t just not his room, but it wasn’t even the dorms. He was in a hospital.
“What? What’s happening?” Daeshim cried, squinting against the light as he tried to pull the IV from his arm. This didn’t make any sense. He was fine before he went to bed.
