"No, don't do this to me now, don't you dare.." Turning the key in her car's ignition again, Maya could only groan as the engine simply clicked before falling silent once again. "You didn't even show me the check engine sign!" As she smacked her hand against the steering wheel, it was like it jolted a memory back into her head, of her driving past the gas station she had forgotten she needed to stop at on her way to work. "Fuck."
She had done the early shift at Le Rouge and even though it wasn't too late out, it was still late enough that she wasn't comfortable walking home on her own, but as she loaded up the Uber app on her phone, the screen suddenly went black. "Double fuck." It was only once she had exited her car and locked it, figuring her only option was to head back to work, did she realise exactly where she was. She'd had to park further away from the club that night and without even realising it, she had parked across the street from his apartment building.
Not really wanting to walk back to Le Rouge given the time of night, Maya took a deep breath before hurrying across the road to the building. Her finger hovered over the buzzer for his apartment, mentally fighting with herself for a couple of minutes over whether she should press it or not. "Just press the button, it's just a button." Before she could overthink it anymore, she pressed to buzz his apartment, waiting for the click. "Uh hi, it's me.. Um, I know it's late but.. Could I come up?"
