with her hand in his, she noticed her boyfriend looked distracted. another man had approached him when she went up to the counter to grab them both their chosen ice cream cones and she had no idea what was said. millie didn't like the silence that had fallen between the two of them and they were dating,, so she assumed that he wouldn't mind talking to her about what was said. "hey," she breathed out, hand squeezing his, "are you okay? who was that guy? what did he say?" she asked softly, her eyes full of concern. she wanted him to know that he could come to her with anything, no matter what.

millie was at a weird point in her life where she wasn't too old to go to parties but she still felt out of place. her friends were still in that sore of party phase and she usually just tagged along so she wasn't left behind at her empty apartment. though, once she lost sight of her friends, she felt like it was a waste of time to come here. that was, until the other approached her. the two seemed to be getting along relatively well and that's when she finally made a move to get out of here and to spend more one on one time with them. "hey," she finally spoke, her manicured nail tapping against the red solo cup, "do you maybe want to get out of here?"

millie typically didn’t get into hook ups too much but one thing had led to another during a night out with her friends and she ended up bringing someone home with her. it’s not like she expected the girl to stay with her all day but it would have been nice to know she was leaving. she was admittedly pretty disappointed but the other hadn’t left her phone number and so she doubted she’d ever seen her again. she’d never been more wrong. the moment she sat down at the table with her friends and her eyes landed on the other, she almost wished she would have canceled but not for any other reason other than slight embarrassment. “who’s this?” millie asked, trying to ask as cool about it as possible.

“i’ve gotta take a trip to the art store.” millie announced. “i mean, i don’t necessarily have to go to the art store but my sketchbook is full of designs and i need a couple of new ones. plus, i’m super picky about the pencils i use and anyways, i’m sure you don’t care but it’d be super cool if you’d tag along and run my errands with me.” she smiled, tilting her head. “you in?”

millie plopped down in the seat across from them and let out a huff of air, “i’m so sorry. i know i’m late but i have an excuse.” she assured as she set her bag in the seat next to her. “i literally just dealt with the worst bridezilla i’ve ever dealt with in my career as a wedding planner and i actually can’t wait to finish it so i never have to see her again.” she complained. millie loved her job but she didn’t always love the people included with it. “anyways, did you order without me?”

convincing her boyfriend to help her at the food and wine fest had been relatively easy. Easier than she thought it was going to be, especially when she knew that he’d rather attend than work. Regardless, she appreciated having him by her side. “You know, you look pretty cute in that apron.” She pointed out, smiling up at him as her elbow nudged his arm. She’d handed it over to him after they set up. It was probably the only apron with her company logo that wasn’t in pink. She’d gotten one in blue just for him. “Thank you again for helping me. I owe you big time. Probably a lot of kisses and a home made dinner is in your future. I’d offer to work at your clinic but is now a bad time to tell you I’m squeamish?”

her curiosity managed to get the best of her and while she didn't want to betray titus, she just wanted to know if there was anything she needed to worry about. at least, when it came to a wife even if he said that wasn't going to change anything. regardless, she was still nervous it might change things. the information millie got from ford though, well, it wasn't what she expected. it was worst and that scared her. so, in attempt to gather her thoughts, she'd been avoiding her boyfriend. looking up as the bell on her bakery door went off, her eyes met titus'. she glanced back down, trying to make herself look busy. "hey," she paused, "things have been crazy…"

"cheers!" millie exclaimed, a smile resting over her face as she clinked her glass against her friend's. "i feel like things are finally looking up and not just for us, even though it feels like not that long ago since the two of us were talking about the horrible dates we've encountered, and now we both have cute dates." it was a complete 360 and she couldn't be more grateful. "tell me more about the one on your arm first and then i'll go on about titus."
