"Can I help you?”
Nighttime encounter || Will&Tessa
@cursedwelshman
When slumber had failed to come, Tessa decided to find herself a book from the library to read. Dressed merely in her nightgown and candle in hand, it had not occurred to the brunette that one might still be awake at this late hour. And so when she opened the door to the library only to find Will bent over a book, she gasped aloud. “Will.”
‘ i’ll love you till my dying days. And even then, I shall not stop. ‘ - Will to Tess

“I know, my love. As I love you for all eternity as well,”
Whispering to break the silence in the darkened library, she moved close enough for there to be no distance and as the brunette pressed her lips against his, she added, “This I vow.”
"I hope you are aware that my tattoo is privileged information." - Will
“Privileged?” she questioned, suppressing laughter at his expression of indignation. “You are aware you have lost any privilege when Magnus found us and undoubtedly shared the tale with many others.”
Jem was not entirely sure if what was so adorable as he was being completely serious, but he wasn't going to question a good thing. "So long as we are clear then." He said, kissing her hand in return and helping her to her feet. Ever since she overcame the sickness, he had been by her side and aiding her with every chance he could. He guided her to her bed and helped her settle in. "Please rest. Were our roles reversed and I was in this bed, you would wish the same of me."
“Very clear,” she confirmed, tenderness in her grey eyes as she watched him lovingly brush his lips against her skin. The soft smile on her face slipped though, when he helped her up. As long as she sat still, it was bearable, but being as round and heavy in this final stage, any movement caused her body great discomfort. The instinct to be stubborn and insist on helping further, faded almost entirely as she bit down on her bottom lip not to groan out loud.
The brunette hurried to cover the grimace on her features as her sweet husband lowered her against the pillows. Worrying Jem was the last thing she wanted to do. Especially in these times, when she felt certain someone would call upon her for help sooner or later.
“You are right, my love,” she conceded, nodding as she still held onto his hand. Tessa wanted to keep him close with such a desperation it seemed to cut through her, but she also knew it wasn’t possible. If she was really going to rest, then it was up to Jem to figure things out. “But you must go now. Help the other warlocks. Find the cure. --I’ll rest, I promise.”
"And I shall. You forget that I did not stand idly by in my century as a Silent Brother. Much was learned and can now be utilized. You, on the other hand, have expended yourself enough as is. I recently read that stress is harmful for our baby. I read it on the Google. You must listen to the Google."
There had been many challenges in the time they had found each other again, and stress had become a daily factor. Yet, she knew him to be right. And seeing as how it had been over a century since her last pregnancy, caution might be well advised.
A small, but very welcomed laugh escaped her when he mentioned THE Google. “Yes, and when it’s on the internet, it must be true,” she quipped, grinning as she took his hand and kissed his knuckles gently. “You are too adorable, my love.”

Tessa had spent some time in the region where Jem grew up in those years she couldn’t be with him as she was now. Still, she knew her Mandarin was not quite as fluent as his, or perhaps she had learned a more modern version of the language. Either way, she figured it must have been her pronunciation which temporarily appeared to confuse him.
The sweet, old-fashioned gesture lightened her heart again and she smiled down at him, How she loved to see time had never corrupted him and he was still her fairytale prince.
“I don’t,” she whispered, though she did not mean the situation itself. Everything which was happening was dire, to say the least, but Tessa did not mind having a project during these days. Sitting by idly was not her way, not even when pregnant. “I wish to help, Jem. I will have plenty of rest ahead of me, after.”
Jem wasn't backing down. "While I respect your diligence, I am certain that any warlock would not exchange their life for an unborn infant's. You must rest. Allow me to research. Allow me to care for you." He said, taking her hand.
It was true, and Tessa couldn’t deny that the others would advice her to rest as well, even with the end of their immortality in view. Still, she knew that if she did not do everything within her power for them, she would never forgive herself.
“Perhaps,” she admitted weakly, clearly not pleased with his correct assessment, leaving her with no real excuse. And she knew he would not take her self-sacrificing nature as a good argument. Besides, if she were to be truly honest with herself, Tessa had to admit a part of her felt torn for she did not wish to cause harm to her child either.
“I will rest for now, but you must really continue the research,” she urged. “And it might do me good to save my strength for when you have found the solution.” Tessa knew that when it involved warlock problems, there would be magic from a warlock needed as well. This was a part she couldn’t leave to anyone else, for the other warlocks had become far too weak, and her husband wasn’t a Downworlder.
