Base and Kayak Rack Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe - Thule, Yakima
Today we performed a full rack and kayak accessory installation on a 2014 Chevy Tahoe. Our customer came to us looking to transport two sea kayaks on the roof of his vehicle. The factory crossbar system wasn’t working for him anymore, so we removed that and proceeded with the Thule base rack installation. He chose the Thule Rapid Crossroads system which provides a great looking and easy to adjust base rack system with 165 lb capacity.
Loading kayaks onto a taller SUV can be a bit of a chore depending on the height of the vehicle and weight of the boats. Fortunately rack manufacturers are listening and have come out with some great load assist products in the past few years. One of the newest load assist products is from Yakima and is called the SweetRoll. The Yakima SweetRoll implements integrated rollers into the rear cradles which aid in the loading process. Just place the front of the boat up on the rollers, then push the boat forward until it is centered between the cradles. Nice and easy!
