Proverbs 10:3 (ESV) - The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
@thwarts asked:
It had been many a month since Bryce had invited Genji to settle in his abode. To say Genji was appreciative was an understatement; no more did he have to press himself flush against a tree’s gnarled roots, hoping its foliage were to thwart the rain. No more did he have to struggle to keep his stomach filled. No more did he have to worry about being cold enough that his teeth chattered and knees knocked. It was pleasant, not having to worry about these things.
They’d become, fortunately, quick friends. Though something else stirred beneath. They hadn’t had that talk yet.
Unfortunately for Bryce, who’d tasked himself with teaching Genji the ways of the modern world, Genji had recently found himself in tow with the greatly powerful (or perhaps annoying was better apt) skill of online shopping. Soon, Bryce were to find the odd, though small, package delivered to his door, in his name. Today, another package had found its way there; pressed crookedly against the door frame.
DELIVER TO: RICHARD SEBASTIAN BRYCE, it said. No indication of what lurked within it. Just a small, ordinary box.
The packages and spending had to be addressed. Truth be told, Bryce was doing far better than people usually did. Better in the sense he stopped drinking away his money. So the odd bits and bobs hadn’t hurt in any real impactful way, it still had to be brought up.
Genji might’ve been some interdimensional traveler but the man looked to have some sort of currency. A reminder of watching the price did ensure the infrequency of the spending but it didn’t stop fully. Bryce couldn’t really mind.
So the investigator didn’t think twice as he scooped up the box as he unlocked his front door and stepped inside.
“Genji! You got another one.”
He called out into the house as he kicked off his shoes and looking over the mailing label, though it gave nothing away that really mattered.
Job 5:12 (NIV) - He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.

"Yikes!" Thank god her rotomphone floated in the air all by itself. Otherwise she probably would have dropped it in panic at the way this guy reacted. Sheesh, what was his problem? Though he hadn't said anything to her, she could see the frustration in the way he moved and turned to her as if he were going to snap. Thankfully, he seemed to calm down once he recognized who she was, but his mabosstiff remained stalwart by his side and she couldn't help but flinch a little when it barked, albeit a soft and friendly one. Referring to her as 'the sandwich paparazzi' hurt a bit more likely intended and she couldn't help but feel like the canine pokémon was going to maul her any second. That's likely what her pokémon would jump to do if accosted by the paparazzi, after all!
"Okay, first of all, ICKKKK!" She made a melodramatic gagging motion. "Me, a paparazzo? AS IF!!! Those bozos are FREAKS. Sneakin' up on me like creeps, tryin' to catch me without my makeup on, all so they can make a quick buck! I'm like waaay too freaked out to even SNEEZE if I think one of those weirdos are around!" The fact that they profited off of her in general made her beyond irritated. All they ever did was make her look bad and not even in the trendy kind of way that stirred up drama and made her view count even higher. They were essentially her professional bullies! She'd dropped out of school at least two years ago, so she shouldn't have to be dealing with that kind of stuff.
"I just thought your sandwich looked good! Don't be hatin' on a girl for havin' an eye for talent! Sheesh! You camera shy or somethin'? I was prob gonna crop you outta the photo anyway, y'know!"

"Sorry, that must be an odd question after all of this..." The tone he carried was happy, gentle, forgiving...despite the melancholy on his face. But he had so many questions.
A hand reached to cautiously, gently grab Arven's shoulder. "That's ok. It's a lot." Not wanting to say much more, in case it tipped things over more. Though....that would be fine, too. "But I'm here. If you need me."
