I adore in fanfics and media when a character is just genuinely so ticklish that they start begging so quickly like, “Noho! Please! I’m too ticklish! It tickles! Plehease!”
It’s even better if they love it but can’t lie about how badly it tickles and can’t help but beg- 🦋
I don't know if this is too niche but it's something I've had in my head for years but just never really bothered to build on. But now. IT IS TIME!!
A humanoid species, similar to humans but with visual and biological differences (I've yet to actually draw up any designs lmao-). They're sentient and intelligent, capable of speech and civilisation and reasoning. They can live amongst regular people but do also have their own cities/villages etc, which is where the majority reside. Because of this, they don't fully understand human customs.
They also act as conduits for electricity.
However, this electricity isn't your standard stuff. One watt can power an entire house for several days. A full spark? Entire industrial buildings. So you can only imagine what harnessing a larger amount could do.
The kicker is- it's only something that can be released via laughter. When one of these things laughs? OH BOY. SPARKS EVERYWHERE. Full blasts of pure energy just flying out of them in gold arcs.
Imagine the potential...
One being kidnapped and expecting the worst- being cut open, experimented on, organs removed. But the kidnapper(s) are only interested in making easy money, and they've heard what the electricity produced by these things can do. They plan on using this energy to sell to shady companies. They try and make the creature laugh, but jokes don't really land when you're a grumpy lil hostage. They keep the creature in comfortable living conditions, feeding them and taking care of them in hopes they'll laugh naturally at some point because even ONE laugh would make thousands. Nothing works, so they brainstorm what they could do...and then it hits! Tickling exists! Uh oh!
--------------
Somebody needing special effects for an event. The lighting they'd ordered has been delayed and won't make it in time, but they have to have SOMETHING. They realise they can use a creature as a free light-show, coercing them with the promise of 'just a quick favour!'. The creature is naive and eager to help but quickly regrets it as they realise this 'favour' is just them, pinned backstage, being tickled into hysterics. They beg and beg, but the tickler just tells them they can't stop now, the crowd is LOVING it! And it's true- The display is stunning and ethereal, golden sparks flying from seemingly nowhere and the viewers are none the wiser to what's actually happening. They just assume it's some high-tech installation, meanwhile the poor creature is absolutely SOBBING WITH LAUGHTER backstage. Somebody save them-
--------------
One of these guys befriending a human and going on a camping trip with them and their friends. Come evening, the mosquitos are relentless. Someone makes an offhanded comment that makes the creature laugh, and the sparks elicited from them act as a bug-zapper. Whenever a fresh wave rolls in, the friends will give the creature a quick tickle without even breaking away from conversation. Boom! No more mozzies! Occasionally there'll be so many mosquitos that just a few sparks won't cut it, so the poor creature gets tickled breathless because 'we can't enjoy ourselves if there's all these pests flying around, man!'
--------------
A creature finding a discarded appliance and having no idea what it is, just that they find it FASCINATING. It's only weeks, maybe months later when something makes them laugh and the appliance sparks to life and ohhhh THAT'S what it does! But now they want more. When the voltage wears off a few days later, they seek out someone to tickle them sheepishly like '...I just think it's cool when it lights up...pls tickle me' :')
--------------
A creature with no concept of bills or rent offering to help out their human friend with the electricity by letting themselves be tickled. Because their sparks are so strong, they actually end up powering the ENTIRE street, and can't understand why this is an issue because 'I helped, right??' all teary-eyed awhhh. (They get given a snack and a cuddle though, it's all forgiven)
--------------
TALKING OF CUDDLING- As a species, they naturally have a slight static quality to their skin, even if not laughing. They give off a low buzzing/vibrating sensation if touched. When cuddled with another of their kind, 'sharing static' is seen as a bonding activity and a sign of trust. When cuddling with a human? The static acts as a calming sedative, able to relieve anger or panic. This is helpful for forcibly relaxing somebody who's spiralling, or perhaps so lost to their emotions they could be a potential danger to themselves or others.
--------------
A creature gets sick! Oh no! And there's none of their own kind around that can help! They're forced to go to a human doctor. When the check-up begins, it starts fairly non-invasive; 'date of birth?', 'Any underlying conditions?' etc. It's only when there's more...touching, that things get complicated. The creature is desperate not to spark up because the machinery at the clinic is important, they don't want to make the job harder by causing the equipment to go haywire...but the doctor is unintentionally pressing all their ticklish spots, asking if it hurts. Maybe they actually DO end up laughing and have to apologise through giggles whilst the room flickers and the equipment beeps and lights up. 'Ihihi'm so-sohohorry! I cahahan't help it!'
--------------
Two humans making it into a game of who can get a creature to spark harder. They take turns tickling them, getting steadily more and more competitive whilst the poor creature is just squealing on the floor.
I HAVE SO MANY MORE SCENARIOS FOR THESE THINGS and I may draw a few out! buuuut I'd need to turn them into a proper species first. This is the most I've ever developed them (which is saying something lmao, they don't even have a name yet oops) and already I love them so much...my lil glowy guys!!
Robotic Arms - Disembodied, robotic arms. Maybe set in a lab or something along those lines? Where the arms are examining the test subject only to squeeze their side or ribs. The robot, not having encountered a reaction like this before, is confused, processing the new information. It will do it again and again, trying different things to see if it gets the same reaction, all while the Lee is giggling, squirming around, trying to avoid the hands.
Accidental - When a ler accidentally tickles a lee. Like if they grab their sides to lift them up and the lee begins squirming and giggling for them to be put down. They try and try to pick up the lee and the lee tries to stay still, they really do, but the anticipation is just too much.
Hide & Seek - Basically just hide and seek but the seeker tickles the hiders when they find them. It's so flustering to hide from a tickler while they call out about how much it's going to tickle when they find you.
Tag/Chase - Again, the same sort of concept as hide and seek. The Ler chasing a Lee around yelling "I'm gonna get you!~" while the lee is giggling. They'll tease the Lee by saying how much more worse it's going to be for them if they keep running.
Scar's - Where the Lee has any kind of scar's. I imagine the Lee being a big tough character, that doesn't let their guard down easy, with loads of scarring around their body from a battle/war. Lee hates their scar's, it only being a reminder of their suffering. Where as, the Ler absolutely loves them. The scar's could be on their neck, or side, or back, pretty much anywhere, and the Ler will trace them gently, showing the Lee just how much they love them. Though the tracing causes twitching, and squirming, so the Ler backs off, thinking they did something to make them uncomfortable. The Lee doesn't want there to be a misunderstanding so they have to swallow their pride and explain why they're so jumpy all of a sudden.
Robots - Just the thought of ticklish robots/android's is so cute to me. The concept of them having sensors that allow them to feel tickling that they don't know about is awesome. When cleaning them they get all giggly and try shying away from the scrubbers you're using. Or when in repairs, messing with their wires causes them to flail around. Of course they could just turn the setting off... But where's the fun in that?
Knights - Yes you heard me correctly. Knights. Just think, two knights (who may or may not be secretly in love) are sparring together, training swords drawn, head to toe in armour, sweaty from previous matches. As they spar they manage to knock each other's swords from each other's grasp, causing them to continue brawling with fists. Eventually one is tackled, the other pushing them down. Now, they're in full armour, so what is one to do in this situation to achieve victory?. The Ler will wiggle their hands up underneath the Lee's metal plating and absolutely go nuts on their torso, anywhere that the armour will allow them to reach. So it's basically just two big scary knights giggling like school children in full armour. Like that's adorable.
oh to be a valiant hero and be strung up between the evil villain’s clutches
but they’re not actually that evil and get a cruel satisfaction from seeing me squirm and plead, wondering when it will end
the mighty hero torn to pieces by something so small, something so “utterly ridiculous” that the villain can’t help but laugh along with you
and after they get what they want they provide you with a cup of tea and a place on their couch (supervised of course)
so that our rivalry continues to be a good one
the hero will try to get their revenge- sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing miserably- but they wouldn’t keep conveniently getting captured and carried away if they didn’t enjoy it somewhat
maybe it’s nice to not have to be so strong sometimes
Just saw a Tumblr post about woolly aphids, and it gave me an idea to make it tickle creature, so I present to you the Featheredtail Aphids!
Bio:
These creatures live mostly in forests and they mostly live in shades where they stay away from light. if it gets bothered or pretty much threatened they climb into the clothes of the unsuspecting victim and to tickling them merciless but these creatures are actually are often kept as pets actually and pretty much make great emotional support pets.
