Alas, he is very susceptible to it! He's such an emotionally driven person that it's the number one way to manipulate him. Jack clocks this quickly in COTBP and plays on it the rest of the franchise lmao The thing about emotionally manipulating an emotionally-driven person, though, is it WILL create backlash. He will realize he's being manipulated at some point and get pissed about it. And, you can't easily talk him out of that anger or its consequences for yourself because it is emotion that drives him more than logic. It is highly effective but at what cost?
How does your muse demonstrate their ambition?
By putting his nose to the grindstone. He's not the sort to half-ass anything. He doesn't just forge swords; he forges swords of superior craftsmanship. He doesn't just practice swordplay; he becomes the best swordsman of anyone he meets. He doesn't just insist they do whatever it takes to rescue Elizabeth; he breaks a notorious pirate out of jail and steals one of the finest navy vessels in the Caribbean. He doesn't just promise to free his father; he literally travels to another plane of existence and back to see it done. The list goes on. Whatever he's decided on, he commits to 110%. He might not even verbally declare his ambitions, but you'll sure as hell see him putting in the work.
