Takeshi's a supporting character in his series (Hajime no Ippo) so didn't get introduced until chapter 88/episode 28. Also, in the manga he's shown to doodle cats in his notebooks and cats tend to follow him around and there's one time that there's literally around sixteen cats visible in a single panel. (although I've only seen the pictures around Tumblr and haven't actually gotten to his manga introduction yet) (@allhailknifeprincess)

I think Takeshi is LITERALLY an 80’s version of the Atsushi Nakajima we all know and love today! I think Asagiri took inspiration from Hajime No Ippo and had Takeshi as a muse. Omg the similarities are uncanny! He has cats following him around, and Atsushi does too. They’re both referred to as tigers and they literally love cats too. 😆😆😆🐯🐾🐾
