A great day for the Tigerettes. We walked into the day with one objective - Don’t just Compete. Dominate. This has to be our mentality moving forward. When competition is as solid as it is in the region, to expect anything less than simply won’t work. We may have not hit the PRs we wanted but we are going to enjoy the wins and then get back to the grind. There are more goals to smash. Moving on to State... 4x100m Relays - 1st. 49.33 4x200m Relay - 1st 1:43.34 • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Ta’kaja Robinson took 4th in the Triple Jump (36’9”) and 3rd in the 200m dash. Kamryn Gibbs took 4th in the 200m Dash. Mary Jo Parker took 8th in the 800m run 2:30.59 Quanasia McDaniel took 7th in the Triple Jump. I want to start this post by saying Thank You to all of our parents, fans and the online support through social media. Your presence and enthusiasm is crucial for us. We love the crazy loud fans in the stands. I love that you show up and get loud and crazy in the stands. Thank you for all of the photos and videos. Keep the electricity flowing as we travel to ACU for the Regional Track Meet. We need you there. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • The Tigerettes traveled to Tulia Tuesday to compete at the Area Track Meet. Once again it was your typical day in the panhandle of Texas - 89 degrees and 30mph winds with an occasional 40+mph gust. The girls fought the competition and the wind for every place, every mark, every time. The top 4 finishers advance to the Regional Track Meet at Abilene Christian University on April 27 and 28, 2018. The Tigerette Team finished as the 2018 Area Runner-up. The results are as follows: Long Jump 2nd - Quanasia McDaniel Triple Jump 2nd - Ta'kaja Robinson 3rd - Quanasia McDaniel 3200m Run Alice Cogburn did not finish due to an foot/ankle injury sustained during the race. 4x100m Relay 1st - Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Quanasia McDaniel, Ta'kaja Robinson 800m Run 3rd - Mary Jo Parker 4x200m Relay 1st - Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Quanasia McDaniel, Ta'kaja Robinson 400m Dash 7th - Ti'Alice Young 200m Dash 2nd - Kamryn Gibbs 3rd - Ta'kaja Robinson 5th - Quanasia McDaniel This is an exciting group of athletes to watch. Make the drive down and watch the Tigerettes fight for a trip to Austin. Only the Top 2 qualify to go to the State Track Meet and our region is full of top level athletes. The whole squad is running well this year. They run prelims on Friday, April 27, and then finals Saturday April 28. Running begins both days at 2:00pm. With the craziness of the last few weeks I failed to post about our District Meet. Our girls have fought this year against big competition so that we would be prepared for District and beyobd. I’m immensely proud of their drive to compete this year. The Tigerettes JV and Varsity competed in Tulia on April 3 and April 4 at the District 2-3A Track Meet. The weather was the typical South Plains weather of the North – cold and windy. Winds both days averaged around 30mph. The Tigerettes performed well in the conditions and finished with 110 team points behind Shallowater (116.5) as the District Runner-up. The Top 4 Varsity finishers qualify for Area. Went to Seminole to run and hit a lot of PRs. This is the 4x100m Relay Team with a 48.93. We are working things out as the weeks progress. This team is committed to the process. Video 1 - 4x100m Relay 1st — 49.5 Video 2 - 800m Run @maryjoparker11 finishing in 1st with a 2:34.5 Video 3&4 - last 2 legs of the 4x400m Relay Mary Jo Parker & @__kgibbs. Kam ran a :60 split to come back from 4th to 2nd. Talk about running with grit. Thankful that we have the parents and fans we do who love to watch their kids compete in Track and Field.
