Anointed long ago in the 206 by the likes of Vitamin D, Jake One, The Physics and the Blue Scholars, Brothers from Another (BFA) were just included in XXL's May 2013 "15 Seattle Rappers You Should Know" list, helping expose them to the wider audience they deserve. Rappers Tiglo and Cole are young, ambitious and damn hardworking.
Along with Sam Lachow, Dave B, Kung Foo Grip, Moor Gang, LA, the KnowMads, Raz and some others, BFA are part of a scary-good young Seattle contingent of up and coming rappers. In addition to being part of that young movement, they have the approval and cosigns from Seattle's veterans needed to propel any young career. BFA toured with The Physics and the Blue Scholars at the end of 2012 and pump out popular EPs almost as rapidly as they play packed, ready-to-party shows. They have shared stages with Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Grynch, The Physics, Sol and the Blue Scholars.
BFA's Molly Moons single (2012, below) demonstrated an understanding of how relationships between musicians and brands (Molly Moons is the most popular ice cream in Seattle) can create exposure, grow a fan base and make an impression.
Are they the best rappers in Seattle? No. But they are two of the hardest working, most-fun, creative and charismatic talents in The Town. The two emcees play well off each other on records and at live shows, but the secret ingredient, in the eyes of this blog, is their DJ, Beeba.
BFA has one of the best live shows in Seattle (Macklemore, The Physics, Dave B, Raz and Moor Gang are up there, too) and Beeba is a big reason why. He is also the spark plug in videos and on the gang's social media. The energy an X-factor like Beeba can bring to live shows and other situations is an important dynamic that is impossible to put a value on.
