Belated #donthebeachcomber tribute for #tikimugtuesday. I picked up the majority of these at @donthebeachcomberhb circa 2012-2013. I’ve yet to acquire the classic rum barrel w/the bone finish or any signature swizzles. Among these are a trio of @crazyaltikis pieces including the Vicious Virgin and a rum keg. For added flavor, assembled is the mug for Sam’s Seafood (the classic restaurant that Dons took the place of) and a coaster for Don’s Mai Tai Bar, the last remaining DTB franchise located at the Royal Kona Resort on Hawaii’s Big Island. I’m not really a fan of the recent proliferation of character based (Star Wars, Marvel) ‘tiki mugs’, preferring instead to associate with the more traditional, vintage aesthetic of Polynesian pop. That said, symmetrical robotic entities are better suited for tiki god approximation.
