Tim considered himself to have an extremely high pain tolerance, he’d always had a moderately high one, but after starting as Robin and then moving on to Red Robin his tolerance had only grown. He could handle most broken bones, fractures, and sprains with relative ease. Bruising, torn muscles, cracked ribs, were all annoyances but he had learned to cope and function with them. Head wounds were a mess, but after a few rest days he was back at it. Burns were a different story, he wasn’t sure why exactly but no matter how often it happened he hadn’t found a way to move past them and cope as if they weren’t there. Whether he burned the tip if his finger on his coffee cup or he burned half his leg in a literal burning building, he had just about the same reaction. There was so little he could do to reduce the pain and it never went away, his whole body would feel hot and then cold and then hot again. It was horrible.
That horror was exactly what brought him to Leslie’s. Rationally Tim had looked at the burn, acknowledged that it wasn’t ideal, knew that it would leave behind slight scarring, recognized the fact that he needed to get his suit off because it was melted into the burn. It wasn’t great but it was okay. It wasn’t hospital worthy, for him, maybe for your average civilian, but he didn’t need to rush over. He just needed some assistance. Leslie’s was closer than the cave and frankly he didn’t want to talk to anyone back there anyway. The specific instruction to not enter the building still ringing in his ears. He’d checked in, said he was fine, then turned off his coms so he didn’t need to listen to the inevitable lecture that was going to come from Bruce and most likely also Dick. His head was throbbing lightly and his back was screaming with pain as he stepped up to the door knocking twice and waiting. He didn’t speak when it opened, instead just holding up his arm and letting the woman take a look of the burn that was reaching elbow to wrist.
