CW: CHARACTER DEATH
The weather has grown colder earlier this year for Wolfclan. Near the end of leaf-fall, Hedgeleap wakes up in the night to find snow falling, and their middle kit losing his battle with Greencough. There's nothing they can do. All Hedgeleap can do is stand outside the medicine cat's den, and lean on others and cry.
Deepkit's death has sent ripples through the clan. He is not the first kit to perish in Wolfclan, but he is the first in a very, very long time, and many hardly remember what it's like to lose someone so small. Deepkit had a whole life ahead of him, but now his siblings, family, and clanmates will have to carry on with his memory.
At least one day, many many moons from now, they can meet again in Starclan...
Storklily shows more concern than usual. She mutters something ominous, about bad things already on their way, that other cats don't quite understand. But maybe, maybe it's time to take her dream seriously...
