Summary:

Yelena didn’t look up from where she was sharpening her knife against a whetstone she definitely wasn’t supposed to have on the couch. “You want to meet aliens?” she asked, eyebrow arched.

“I mean… kind of?” Bob said. “Not the evil ones. The cool ones. Like E.T.”

As far as Bucky was concerned, Bob needed therapy the most out of any of them.

The point was, Bob was excited about aliens now.

Aliens.

And it was a problem.

Because it brought them back to 2012, accidentally.

Bucky was trying not to think about Steve Rogers too much but it was impossible to do when the man was breathing and alive and well in 2012.

He (Bucky) wasn’t the only one frozen in place.

Yelena stood a few feet away, her expression wasn’t just solemn, it was devastated in that quiet way only someone who refused to cry could be. Because she knew what 2012 meant too. Her sister was alive.

Natasha Romanoff. The Black Widow. Somewhere across the other side of Manhattan, she was probably flipping off buildings, completely unaware that her future was a ticking time bomb. Yelena didn’t say a word, but the look in her eyes was enough.

And Tony…

God. Tony.

His gaze caught on the red-and-gold blur streaking across the sky. That man flying above them didn’t know yet. Howard and Maria were still a mystery, still unsolved and locked in a tape reel waiting to ruin everything. This was the year when everything was still almost fine.

Before Zemo, before Siberia, before broken shields and shattered friendships, and for just one moment, Bucky wished they could stay here where everything hadn’t yet fallen apart. But that wasn’t how time worked, he knew better than anyone that nothing stayed good for long.

“When this is all over,” Ava deadpanned, her voice cutting through the sound of distant explosions and alien screeches, “you know what other problem we have?”

Everyone turned to look at her, already dreading the answer.

She didn’t even blink. “Nick Fury.”

A collective groan rippled through the group.

“Jesus Christ,” Bucky muttered, scrubbing a hand over his face. “How the hell did I forget about him?”

Bold Street 'timeslips' that 'transported people into the past'

Over the years, a number of people claim to have 'slipped' into another time period

Today I learned that Liverpool has a street that supposedly sends you back to the 1950s (someone else went to 1967) 👀 Just in case anyone was looking for a plot bunny.

Liverpool has its fair share of urban legends, spooky tales and local myths - but perhaps none more puzzling than the 'timeslips' of Bold Street.

Over the years, a number of people claim to have 'slipped' into another time period while walking along the city centre street.

Bizarrely, those who claim to have 'time travelled' along Bold Street were able to recount specific details from the past that they encountered during the experience.

We spoke to local paranormal expert Tom Slemen who recounted one of the 'timeslip' tales from Bold Street.

There are areas all over Liverpool and Merseyside that seem to have timeslip hotspots, but the highest saturation of time anomalies is the thoroughfare of Bold Street in the heart of the city.

One of the first timeslips I investigated concerned an off-duty policeman from Melling named Frank. One Saturday in July 1996, Frank and his wife Carol visited Liverpool to do some shopping.

At Central Station, the couple split up. Carol went to Dillons Bookshop in Bold Street to purchase a copy of Irvine Welsh's book, Trainspotting, and Frank went to a record store in Ranelagh Street to look for a CD.

About 20 later he walked up the incline near the Lyceum which leads onto Bold Street, intending to meet up with his wife in the bookshop, when he noticed he had somehow entered a ‘dead spot’ of quietness.

Suddenly, a small boxvan that looked like something out the 1950s sped across his path, beeping its horn as it narrowly missed him. Frank noted that the van had the name 'Caplan's' emblazoned on its side.

Frank crossed the road and saw that Dillons Bookshop was no longer there. In its place stood a store with the name 'Cripps' over its two entrances. The policeman was understandably confused.

He looked in the window of Cripps and saw no books on display, but women’s handbags and shoes. The policeman turned around and saw that the people on Bold Street were wearing clothes that would have been in vogue in the Forties and Fifties; the men wore trilbies and long overcoats and the women wore scarves, berets, pillbox and cartwheel hats and most of the ladies also wore gloves.

Then the possibility that he had somehow walked into the Bold Street of 40-odd years ago dawned on the policeman. Frank sighted a girl of about 20, dressed in the clothes of a mid-1990s girl; hipsters and a lime-coloured sleeveless top. The bag she carried had the name Miss Selfridges on it, which really reassured the policeman that he was still somehow partly in 1996. He smiled at the girl as she walked past him and entered Cripps.

As Frank followed her, the whole interior of the building changed in a flash to the interior of Dillons Bookshop. The policeman was back in his own time.

VERSAILLES TIMESLIP

On August 10, 1901, in Versailles, France, two women were transported back in time to the late 1700s. Charlotte Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain, college administrators from England, were touring the gardens of the French palace when they passed through a gateway and were suddenly surrounded by people in old-style clothing, village tableaus, and a dark, depressing mood. It was the anniversary of the imprisonment of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and they were at the spot where the queen had received news of the Parisian mob marching on the palace gate. In hindsight, Moberly and Jourdain concluded that they had unexplainably "tuned into a memory left by the Queen in the grounds of the chateau."

Moberly later described the experience, saying, "Everything suddenly looked unnatural... flat and lifeless ... There were no effects of light and shade, and no wind stirred the trees." A man in a gazebo "slowly turned his face, which was marked by smallpox... The expression was evil and yet unseeing...I felt a repugnance to going past him." Finally arriving at the Petit Trianon, she and Jourdain saw a woman sitting on a stool, sketching. "I thought that she was a tourist, but her dress was old fashioned and rather unusual ... [S]ome indescribable feeling made me turn away." Moberly later recognized her from a picture as Marie Antoinette. Circling around to the other side of the building, the women joined a tour group. The foreboding mood disappeared.

Moberly and Jourdain later returned to Versailles and noticed great alterations. Researching their previous pathway, they discovered that their route existed in the palace at the time of late eighteenth century, but not at the time of their original tour. Bridges and gateways were absent, and brick walls and buildings had appeared. Most of the changes had taken place one hundred years earlier. Jourdain and Moberly published their experiences in the book An Adventure.

Versailles Time Slip

Two English ladies Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain in August of 1901 visited the Palace of Versailles in France. As they toured the palace they became bored and went outside to explore the gardens and see the Petit Trianon—a small chateau on the grounds.

But they were informed that the Petit Trianon was closed for the day so the two women decided to continue exploring the grounds. At one point they became turned around and discovered they were lost.

It was at this point a feeling of weariness and oppression overtook both women. They noticed the pleasant sunny day took on a fuzzy appearance. Things now seemed out of place.

They watched a women shake a white sheet out one farmhouse window and noticed there was an old fashioned plough in front of this structure.

They observed the people around them were all dressed in funny old- fashioned clothing. Several of the men wore three-cornered hats. Jourdain commented later that these figures reminded her of the wax figures in Madam Tussauds.

Jourdain also noted that everything around them all of a sudden looked unreal . . . unpleasant. The trees even appeared flat and lifeless. She stated there was no play of light and shadow you normally see on a sunny day.

One man the pair spotted was so rough in appearance–pock marked face, dark expression, wearing a floppy hat and large cloak– that Jourdain admitted he repulsed her. The two women decided they didn’t even want to walk past him.

A more pleasant tall man with curly hair approached them and showed them the way to the Petit Trianon.

After they crossed one bridge Moberly spotted a stately woman with fair hair wearing a large white hat sketching on the grass. This woman wore a pale summer frock and looked directly at her without interest. Moberly afterwards came to believe that this woman was Marie Antoinette. Jourdain did not see this lady.

Once the two women reached the entrance they were joined by a group of modern day tourists. They stated that the strange feelings that had overtaken them vanished at this point.

When what both women saw and experienced that day in early August was made public they were ridiculed but Moberly and Jourdain were not young girls, they both were well educated and had met while they were principals of a women’s residence hall at Hugh’s College in Oxford. Jourdain also ran her own school.

They suspected they would not be believed so it wasn’t until years after their encounter they wrote about it and published it in a book entitled, An Adventure in 1911. They used pin names. It wasn’t until four months after Jourdain died in 1931 that their real names came out.

The two women were firmly convinced that the grounds at Versailles were haunted and what they saw that day were ghosts. Later their experience of walking out of the 20th century directly into the 16th century was labeled a Time Slip experience.

The blade sings, cutting through armour, biting into Trev’s neck. Blood sprays, she falls. Cassandra blinks. She feels it in her bones. Trev puts on her helmet and seals it. She grins and Cassandra smiles. “Are you ready?” Cassandra steels herself and nods. The door opens and aliens pour forth. This time, she pushes Trev into the pod. This time, she saves her lover of many lifetimes away. This time, Cassandra is the one who dies.
