days like these, you're all i need | | nate
It wasn't often that it happened, Ava needing to stay in overnight to finish a project. Her boss had been convinced that Ava could complete the project, but she hadn't been told any specifics at the time. The moment she sat down to do the work, she knew she was in for a long night. As much as she wanted to just go home, Ava left a text message to let her sister know she would be at work for the night and called Nate, getting his voicemail and letting him know the same thing. She'd worked all through the night, taken a quick nap on the little couch in the break room, and gone to the bathroom to prepare for the new day. That morning, she'd presented the project and then went back to work on the new tasks for the day.
Ava left work early, the afternoon sunlight fresh on her skin as she finally started on making her way home. The brunette didn't want to do anything but sit on the couch and curl up with her boyfriend for as long as she could. On the way back, Ava grabbed something from the nearby bakery to shove in her mouth, not able to remember the last time she ate. When work took over her life, those were the days she wondered why she did what she did. It took time for her to remember that she was close to not being an intern anymore. Just a bit longer.
When Ava got to the building, she was quick on her feet to get up to the floor and to the door. She was tempted to go see her sister, especially considering she never liked being away from her sister long, but it was days like these where Ava just needed Nate.
Unlocking the door, she walked in and just kicked off her heels, dropped her purse, and set the empty bakery bag on the little table next to the door. "Nate?" Ava called out, looking around the apartment. "Are you home, babe?" She moved over to the kitchen, opening the fridge and looking for nothing really. Ava just grabbed the jug of milk and poured herself a glass to wash down the croissant that she'd just eaten on the way. Walking over to the door frame of the kitchen, she leaned against it and looked around, wondering if her boyfriend was in the bedroom.
Finishing her drink, she set the glass down and headed toward the back, opening the door to the bedroom. "Nate, I called for you." Ava said, pouting as she stood in the doorway.
