I have learned something today at the two hour Chicago rehearsals...
I learned that I can't twerk and should never ever try to ever again.
I can't overly remember how I got to Puck's apartment.
I have a groggy memory of the drive but that's it.
Early morning.
Which means me trying not to wake Puck and get out of his death cuddle grip on me. It honestly felt too good to escape but I unfortunately had to. Two cups of coffee later and I'm at rehearsals for Midsummer and then I have to stop into work. This should be fun.
You're My Wonderwall || Quick Chronicles
Tagging → Quinn Fabray and Noah Puckerman Time Frame → Sixth Grade? Location → Quinn's bedroom General Notes → After a rough night at home, Puck sneaks out and finds himself at the Fabray home. The young pair find just how much their friendship means to each other.
Quinn had settled into her large pink bed early that evening. After finishing a few chapters of the last novel she'd been reading, she had turned off the light, grabbed Arthur and held him tightly to her chest as sleep began to take over her senses. The blonde was never a overly sound sleeper due to her erratic life in her home and immediately woke up by hustling outside her window. She already learned her lesson of waking up her parents after hearing a noise late at night. Her father wasn't impressed to say the least. Wiggling up to a seated position, she peered into the darkness of her room clenching her plush lamb for dear life. A hand reached for her window and Quinn reached for her tennis racket. Not able to make out the figure that was entering her room nor hearing her name, she scrambled off her bed and swung her racket roughly at her intruder.
Puck took one step forward into the room and was immediately met with blow to his face. "Shit," he cursed out quietly and covered his injured cheek. He held out a hand defensively and dropped to his knees. "Quinn. Chill out. It's Puck." He dropped his head into his hands and groaned. "Jeez, Q. Are you a professional tennis player or something? That's gonna leave a mark."
Quinn felt satisfied with the sound the racket made as it made contact with the stranger in her room. But at hearing the voice and recognizing it, she immediately felt guilty. "Oh my God. I'm so sorry," she mumbled out quickly. Listening to ensure her house remained quiet, she scurried off to turn on the lamp next to her bed to provide them some light. Her hazel eyes widened in shock to see him on the ground with his hand to his cheek. "I take lessons..." she spoke softly and walked over to Puck. "Are you okay?"
Puck nodded and glanced up at the blonde. "Quit school and become a professional," he joked. Standing up, he moved his hand away from his face. "I'm fine. It's probably gonna leave a shiner but black eyes are cool. So I'm ok with it," he shrugged and awkwardly placed his hands in his short's pockets. "So...hi."
Quinn twirled her hair awkwardly in the presence of Puck who was in her room...at night...when she was in extremely dorky pyjamas with teddy bears. "Hi..." she glanced up at him and let the full situation wash over her. "What are you doing here? It's really late." she stated the obvious and matched him in awkwardness as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Puck shrugged and glanced down at his feet. "I...I uh had to get away from my mom." Glancing up at Quinn, embarrassment about the whole situation washed over him. He picked up his backpack and turned towards the window. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I can just go to Sam's like I usually do," he stated before making a move to leave.
Quinn nodded slowly and empathized with having a difficult parent though she'd never say anything of it. She remained silent when he backtracked to the window and she chewed her lip, debating internally with herself. "No...you can stay..." she began and looked around her room to make sure there was nothing too embarrassing around her room. "I did hit you in the face with my racket. I can at least let you stay awhile."
Puck turned around and nodded slowly. Dropping his backpack once more, he took a seat on the edge of her desk. "Alright. I'll stay a bit." Puck looked around and took in her room. It was way bigger than his and a lot more...pink. "So this is Quinn Fabray's room. Not sure if it's what I had pictured in my head to be honest," he joked.
Quinn retreated to the comfort of her bed and sat Indian style. Quickly tucking Arthur under her covers, she glanced back to Puck and watched him curiously when his eyes trailed around her room. "What did you expect then?" she asked, trying to understand the impression the boy had of her.
Puck shrugged and looked over at the blonde. "I dunno. More books definitely. Maybe gold things with the Fabray family crest or something." Shaking his head, he ran his hand through his curly hair and laughed. "The canopy bed definitely fits though. It's like a princess bed so it's perfect for you." He flipped open her folder that was on her desk and frowned when he realized they had homework he didn't do.
Quinn looked down at her lap and snorted softly at the mentioning of a Fabray crest. "Well some of my books are in here and the rest are in the study," she wrinkled her nose over how pretentious it sounded. Her eyes trailed up to the top of her bed and smiled at her bed. It was definitely her favourite feature of her room. "Did you not do the homework?" she asked before she could stop herself.
Puck shook his head and shut her notebook. "Nope. Definitely didn't even know we had it. Must've been asleep in class when it got assigned." Hopping off of the desk, he stretched his arms over his head. Puck made his way over to her bed and carefully sat on the edge, as far from her as possible. "So do you have any big plans this weekend?"
Quinn pressed her lips together and would have offered to help but it didn't seem like homework was something he really wanted to do at this second. She shook her head before she could vocalize her answer. "No. I'm not. I have a piano lesson and homework. That's about it," she shrugged and was used to have what most of her peers would deem a boring weekend. "What are you doing?"
Puck leaned his head against the bedpost and shrugged. "No idea yet. Probably hang out with Sam and Artie. Try to stay away from my house as much as I can." He crossed his arms over his chest and glanced at the blonde. "Are you ever not doing homework?" Chuckling, he reached out and nudged her with his foot.
Quinn nodded and couldn't help but to feel a sense of jealously that Puck actually had people to hang out with. Santana and Brittany always made her feel like a third wheel and would preferably hang out with her each other. Most of the other kids in their class always assumed she was busy so she never got invited anywhere. "My dad says that you're always preparing for your future. I'm just doing that."
Puck frowned slightly at her words. He crawled up the bed next to her and shook his head. "But if you spend all your time preparing for the future...how are you supposed to enjoy what's going on now? We're kids. We're not supposed to be stressing out over school and crap. We're supposed to be having fun. Enjoying not having responsibilities." He laid down and placed his hands behind his head. "Well if you get tired of doing homework we should go to the park or something."
Quinn tried not to look as anxious as she felt that he was in her room and now laying down beside her. "My dad doesn't see it that way. School is my responsibility and once I'm done school, I'll have time to enjoy my life," she sounded almost robotic with her wording. Glancing down at Puck, Quinn exhaled and leaned against her headboard. "I might be able to do that," she smiled and nudged him back. "Are you hungry?" she asked to change the subject. She didn't wait for his response and got up from her bed. Going to a drawer, she rummaged through it to find her secret stash of candy.
Puck wanted to comment on her father but knew better. Sitting up, he watched Quinn dig through her drawers. "Sure. I'm always hungry," he joked. "Got any gummy bears? I won't steal any of the yellow ones I promise." A montage of moments the two shared over that candy flashed through Puck's mind and he couldn't help but allow a wide grin to spread across his face.
Quinn turned around with a bag of gummy bears in her hand. "Of course, I have gummy bears. Who do you think I am?" she shared her first smile with him that night and walked back over with the rest of the candy with her. "Is this what you do at Sam's when you go? Wake him up and eat all his food?" she teased him and popped a gummy bear or two into her mouth.
Puck laughed and grabbed a couple of gummy bears. He shook his head and popped one in his mouth. "Nah we usually play video games all night and I pass out on his couch. He doesn't let me touch his candy." Puck smiled and messed around with the gummy bears in his hand. He held up one of the mutated gummy bears and roared. "You gonna slap it out of my hand again, Fabray," he smirked quietly.
Quinn made a face at the Frankenstein gummy bear creation he showed her. "Nah. I'll let you play with your food for now," she shrugged and ate a chocolate kiss from her bag full of candy. "Well I don't have video games to play but I think I'm okay company." She chewed on another gummy bear slowly and furrowed her eyebrows together when a thought crossed through her head. "Why did you come here?"
Puck looked down at the candy in his hands when she asked him why he showed up in her room. He honestly didn't have a proper answer for her. The second he stepped outside of his house, the only person he wanted to see was the blonde. Puck couldn't admit that out loud because it was weird and he didn't want to freak her out. "I dunno. You're my friend," he simply stated.
Quinn hated that a smile crept on her face when he said that she was his friend. She especially disliked how happy it made her feel. It was the kind of happiness that warmed you from the inside out. The blonde looked away from him and continued to chew on her candy to try to remain her usual coy self. "You're my friend too." She added quietly.
Puck smiled bashfully and ate another gummy bear. There was something special about Quinn. Something that he couldn't put his finger on just yet. "Thanks, Q. Thanks for letting me stay and just talking to me. Before he could realize what he was doing, Puck leaned over and placed a soft kiss on the blonde's cheek. He pulled back quickly and focused his gaze on the candy once more.
Quinn 's cheeks turned a rosy shade when his lips touched her cheek. She blinked at him and couldn't help but to stare at him for a moment. "Um. You're welcome. Anything I can do to help," she shrugged it off and looked around her room. "Do you want to do anything or do you just want to talk? I'm not sure what you're exactly suppose to do?"
Puck shrugged and leaned against her headboard. "I don't care. I know it's late and we have school tomorrow. So I understand if you want to go to bed soon." He looked down at the bed then up at Quinn. "I could crash on the floor and then sneak out before your parents wake up."
Quinn smiled over to him, "I think I could manage to stay up a bit longer." She imagined him sleeping in her bed instead of the floor but the thought of it made her uneasy. "That sounds good. My dad will be gone decently early and I don't see him in the mornings really. You should be safe to be here for awhile." She looked down at her lap momentarily and scrunched her nose unsure if she should ask the question that was on the tip of her tongue. "Do you do this often? I mean...stay somewhere else at night?"
Puck nodded. "Cool. I'll sneak out the window again to be safe." He looked over at Quinn and sighed at her question. "Ever since my dad left...yea. I just can't be at home with my mom when she's like that. She says I look too much like dad and that pisses her off...a lot. So I usually just sneak out of my window as soon as she passes out. Sometimes I go to Artie's. Sometimes Sam's. Sometimes I end up sleeping in the jungle gym at school," he shrugged.
Quinn frowned as he spoke and instinctively leaned closer to him. She took his hand without another thought and squeezed it gently. "You've slept at the jungle gym? If Artie or Sam get sick of you, you can always come back here. I promise not to hit you again. Maybe we could think of a tap or something you can do on my window." Quinn didn't like the idea of him sleeping outside and especially didn't like how his mom treated him. She certainly wasn't one to dig into a bad parent with having one she wasn't able to deal with either.
Puck interlaced their fingers and shrugged. "It was really really late and I didn't want to wake anyone up. So yea. I slept in the jungle gym." He looked down at their joined hands before looking back up at Quinn. "I don't want you to get in trouble with having a boy in your room though. I'm not worth it, Q." Puck continued to hold her hand, not wanting to let go just yet.
Quinn frowned and nudged him softly. "Just don't sleep outside again unless you're camping. You can go in our pool house if you want. It's not that warm in there but it's warmer than the jungle gym," she gave another option, seeing his point of if he was ever caught in her room. "You're my friend though, Puck. Of course, you're worth it." It was her turn to lay a kiss on his cheek as a token of reassurance.
Puck offered her a small smile and nodded. "Alright. I won't sleep outside again. I promise." His smile grew wider at her words and the kiss she placed on his cheek. He swore he could feel his stomach flip but decided to ignore it. Glancing at the clock on her nightstand, he frowned slightly. "You should really get some sleep, Q. Can't have you taking a nap in class," he chuckled. Letting go of her hand, Puck grabbed an extra pillow and crawled off the bed to lay on the floor.
Quinn watched him move off her bed and onto the floor. She tossed him the less pink blanket she had and smiled down at him. "Figured you might want a blanket too." Relaxing back into her bed, Quinn tucked herself in and uncovered Arthur from his hiding spot. She stared up at the peak of the canopy above her as thoughts swarmed her head. "Do you think that there will be a day where you won't want to leave your home at night?" She whispered out and held Arthur to her tightly.
Puck caught the blanket and thanked her. He covered himself and turned slightly so that he was facing her bed. Sighing, he shrugged even though he knew she couldn't see him. "Probably when my home is actually with someone who loves me," he answered sadly. "What about you, Quinn? Do you think you'll ever start doing things that you want to do?" Puck grimaced slightly once the words left his mouth, scared that he crossed the line.
Quinn was saddened by his answer but wasn't sure what she expected. About to ask a followup question, Quinn was silenced by his question and stayed quiet for awhile. "I do things that I want to do," she mumbled out defensively. She knew he was right though. She lived her life by what her father wanted. It's the way it always had been.
Puck laid there staring at her bed, waiting for her to respond. He rolled his eyes when she finally answered. Not wanting to get into an argument, Puck decided to not comment. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling. "We'll both be happy someday," he muttered quietly to himself.
Quinn bit her lip at his response and nodded to herself. "We will be," she agreed in a gentle voice. She allowed another silence to grow between them and she rolled over onto her side. Remembering the bag of candy at the foot of her bed, Quinn got up slowly and placed it quickly back where it belong. She retreated back to her bed but didn't lay down immediately. She took two pillows off her bed and rounded her bed. Tossing the two pillows to land beside Puck, she sat herself down and tugged on the blanket so it would cover her as well. Laying down next to him, she didn't say a word.
Puck shut his eyes and was drifting off to sleep when he heard something land next to him. Opening his eyes, he watched Quinn lay down by his side and cover herself with the blanket he was using. He raised a curious eyebrow at the blonde but kept his mouth shut. Smiling softly, he reached down and grabbed her hand with his. Puck leaned over and placed a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth. Pulling away, he burrowed his head into the pillow and shut his eyes. "Goodnight, Quinn."
Quinn smiled back at Puck and glanced down at their hands. She wasn't sure if it was just having someone here that made her feel safe or if it was actually Puck who made her feel safe. Either way, she liked the fact that he was here. No matter what the circumstances were that he was here. Her face reddened once again as he kissed her once more that evening. "Goodnight. Sleep well," she yawned and closed her eyes. Her bed was far more comfortable than the floor and she didn't have her plush lamb with her but with her hand in his, she figured she could deal without both for one night.
A Temporary Fix || Self Para
Tagging → Quinn Fabray, Parker Benson, Liv Erikson, mentionings of Noah Puckerman. Time Frame → The second semester of Quinn's second year. Location → A Columbia theatre, Quinn's Apartment, Parker's Apartment General Notes → Quinn finds herself with a boyfriend and of course, it can only end badly for the boy.
It had been two months since Quinn and Puck had broken up and since Quinn had last heard from him. She shouldn't have expected him to contact her but she still hoped. They had agreed that they needed time apart to work on themselves. Puck would focus on his military career and Quinn would focus on school as simple as that.
Quinn had auditioned and received the role of Juliet Capulet in a Yale production and was quite the honour considering she was only a second year. Most of the other actors were at least in their third year. She had heard enough whispering about if she was sleeping with the professor who was the director or maybe the production was some sort of joke. She decided immediately to be the best she could be in that moment. Also the hectic schedule of the play was a helpful distraction from the fact that she still hadn't heard from Puck. Most of her rehearsals were with a boy in his forth year named Parker who was her Romeo. Parker was obviously very attractive and it definitely wasn't hard to do with her scenes with him.
The blonde was sitting on the ground of her balcony as she waited for rehearsals to resume that day. Her feet dangled off the edge and her head rested against the railing, watching the director go over somethings with Parker. “Juliet,” the director called to her. Quinn stood up immediately to show he had her attention. Parker snorted at her attentiveness. “We're going to take it from line 143.” Quinn nodded and flipped to the section quickly. She began uttering her line, half looking at the book and the other half peering down at Parker who was beginning to climb up the fire escape. She continued reading but raised an eyebrow when he jump onto the balcony landing much earlier than they rehearsed before. Her hazel eyes darted to her script but when she looked back up, he had gotten closer to her. As on cue unlike what was currently go on, the Nurse off stage called to her. “I come, anon,” she looked away from Parker to yell back. Opening her mouth to begin her next line, Parker's lips crushed down on hers. His hands held either side of her face gently as he kissed her with a sense of sweetness and longing. He finally pulled away, leaving in a shocked daze. Quinn, remembering she had another line, quickly stammered it out before the Nurse called her again.
“And stop,” the director shouted up to the pair. “Juliet, do you think you'll be able to get back to script if Romeo kisses you at random moments during this scene? I'd like to keep the sense of shocked.” Quinn only nodded back, still slightly taken back by the unexpected kiss that just happened. “Okay. That's the end of today. We'll meet again tomorrow.” Everyone began to trail out of the theatre until the only people who remained were Quinn and Parker still on the balcony.
“Are you still really that taken back by that kiss, Fabray? That wasn't even my best work,” Parker's British accent met her ears happily though his snark didn't.
“No. I obviously didn't expect it. We don't usually kiss until the end of the scene,” Quinn furrowed her eyebrows and opened the doors to begin walking down the stairs. She jumped slightly much to his amusement when he appeared in front of her after exiting the way he had come up.
Parker's lips twitched in a smirk. “Hey. Do you want to do something tonight?” Quinn couldn't help but to think of Puck in that instant. What he was doing? How he was? And even though she hated to even let her mind travel there, who he had possibly slept with? She didn't want to be naive to think that he hadn't. The thought caused her eyes to grow foggy for a moment until Parker's voice brought her back. “Quinn?”
“Ya. I'd love to.”
~
“Goodnight,” Parker murmured against Quinn's lips once more. She continued to kiss him, trying to ignore him. “Quinn...” he chuckled softly and finally managed to pull away from her. “I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow,” he gave her another quick kiss before leaving her. Quinn turned around and entered her room, closing the door behind her. In a state of glee, she fell down on to the couch with a content sigh.
“God. I swear by the sound of things out there that you were going to throw him against the door,” Liv didn't bother to look up for her textbook, “It's been a month. You haven't fucked him yet. Are you two dating?”
Quinn shrugged despite the fact that Liv was unable to see her. “I guess. It's weird but I really like being around him. He's sweet, fun and really likes being around me.”
“So does a puppy,” the brunette sadly dryly and flipped to the next page. “Seriously though. Before Parker asked you out, you were all 'Puck this...Puck that...Do you think Puck is thinking about me right now? Do you think Puck is going to finally contact me? Do you think Puck is jerking off to that picture I sent him last year?”
Quinn sat up and threw a pillow at her friend. “Hey. I was not that bad...and I didn't ever say the last one.” The pillow knocked the book out of Liv's hand and she sent a glare over in Quinn's direction.
“Whatever. Parker is very cute and very British and you seem happy,” Liv picked up her book but didn't start to read it right away. “But maybe you should hide all your Puck photos if you ever bring him in here. I mean...there would be anything I wanted more than to be trying to get with a guy when he has photos of his ex everywhere.”
“That's not fair. You know how much Puck means to me,” She grumbled and sat up on the couch, preparing to leave the room.
“Does Parker know that?”
~
Parker looked around Quinn's room curiously and smiled when he found a photo of her in her Cheerio outfit. “You were a cheerleader? What else don't I know about you?” He turned around to face Quinn who was sitting on her pink bed.
“Um. What do you want to know?” She arched an eyebrow at him and beckoned him over to her with her finger. He complied and sat down beside her.
“How about...how much do you like the handsome fellow on your bed right now?” He managed to keep a straight face as he waited for her response. Quinn, however, smiled at his Britishness.
“I think I like him quite a bit,” she pressed a kiss to his lips and glanced over his shoulder at the drawer that held all the items and photos of Puck away from him.
“Good because he rather likes you too.” He made a goofy face at Quinn causing her to laugh. Pressing a kiss to her nose, he erupted more laughter from her.
~
Tonight was different than the ending of most of their dates. Parker usually dropped off Quinn at her apartment and wished her a goodnight with a kiss before leaving. Sometimes she slept over at his place after a late night at the bar or vise versa. It was all innocent between a few make-out sessions and some touching on his part. Tonight was different. They hadn't gone to the bar with their group of friends that included some of their cast members, his friends and Quinn's. Liv spent most of the night side-eying Quinn. Instead, they went out to dinner and it was still fairly early in the evening when they arrived back at Parker's bachelor pad styled apartment. Quinn was on his couch as he brought out two bottles of beer. She was never fond of beer but she drank it anyway and thanked him. They simply talked and drank as per usual .
“I'm really glad you were my Juliet,” Parker brushed a strand of hair behind her ear causing her to blush slightly. Everything felt new to her. There had only been one guy she had ever let this close to her and he had in fact gotten much much closer than she had ever let Parker emotionally and physically.
Quinn smiled sweetly at him and took a sip of her beer. “You're a pretty good Romeo. I was sort of expecting Leonardo DiCaprio but you'll do.” She teased him playfully and set her bottle down.
“Oh really?” he spoke with a chuckle wrapped around his words.
“Yes. Really.”
With that, he set down her beer and pushed her gently on to the couch so she was on her back under him. “So you're saying you don't like me then? I'm not the Romeo you want?”
She blinked at him as another answer to his question ran across her mind. “You'll do,” she joked but a bit of honesty hide in the two words.
Quinn watched his face scrunch up cutely when he laughed like always and knew she was lucky to be with him. Even Liv said that she didn't do relationships that she would jump into one with Parker but that was also so she could make him her sex slave in the process.
“I was thinking...” Parker peppered kisses on her face softly and revelled in his girlfriend's laughter., “that it might be time to take our relationship to the next step.” He quickly backtracked and sputtered out the rest of his thought, “If you want to, of course.”
She knew that dating someone would lead to the inevitable: sex. She always knew that it was going to happen with Puck because she could never imagine doing it with anyone else. There was that one time with Sam which she still didn't count and she was sure Sam didn’t either. Now there was Parker, sweet, caring and adorable Parker. She really did like him. He was a good kisser, an above par cuddler and someone who she could just talk to. Quinn couldn't be sure if the way she liked him was romantic though. She supposed there was only one way to find out.
“I want to,” she spoke softly and smiled at him to reassure him even if she wasn't overly sure herself.
He didn't seem to pick up on her hesitation when he picked the blonde up and carried her to his bedroom.
Once in his room, the heat was turned up with great speed until they were both in a state of undress. Quinn's dress had been tugged off and Parker had taken the first opportunity to removed his shirt. Scattering kisses across his shoulders and chest, he paused for a moment when something caught his eye. He reached up and placed the ring Quinn wore on a necklace in his hands.
“What's this?” he questioned out of general curiosity. It took Quinn a second to remember that she was wearing it. It never left her neck and ultimately had become a part of her.
“Um,” she hesitated, trying to think of a lie but the truth slipped from her lips before she could stop herself, “It's a ring from my ex-boyfriend.
She watched a wave of confusion wash over the boy on top of her. “Do you mind taking it off?” The question felt like it had a simple enough answer to him. But Parker remained confused when Quinn made no move to remove the necklace. “Quinn?”
When she still didn't remove it, Parker rolled off her and ran his fingers through his messy brown hair. Quinn sat herself up as well and pressed a kiss to his jaw, “Come on. It's just me and you.” She winced at once when she realized her wording.
“No, it's not. It's me, you and whoever the guy is who gave you that.” He was upset and Quinn admittedly knew he had the right to be.
Quinn tried to take his hand but he pulled it away. “I'm with you though. Only you.” She pleaded with him. She didn't know why though. Deep down, she knew that he'd never be Puck. No matter how hard she wanted him to be.
“Then take off the necklace.”
“...I can't.”
“Why? His voice cracked slightly, his emotions getting the better of him.
Quinn looked away from him and wasn't sure what to do with herself. She was guilty of all his eyes accused her of and she was fully aware of that.
“I don't know why you broke up with him but it's obvious that you still have very strong feelings for him and you think there is still a shot of you two getting back together. Am I right?” The blonde who still couldn't look at him nodded like a child being lectured after getting into trouble. “I'm not going to be used as some distraction until he gets back. I deserve far better than that.” He got out of his bed and tugged his shirt back on.
“I know...” Quinn mumbled out and peeked over at him. “But I really like you.”
“Please don't,” he pressed his lips together and she saw an expression on his face that she'd seen one other time. Before grade nine when she told Puck that they couldn't be friends any longer. The disbelief and hurt was displayed perfectly on his features and Quinn hated that she had put it there . “Put your dress back on and I'll drive you home.”
Quinn didn't utter another word and did as she was told. The car ride to her apartment building felt like it took forever but it was the same route they always took. Parker looked straight forward the whole car ride trying to maintain his composure while Quinn stared blankly out the window.
He walked her to her door like the gentleman he was and pressed a parting kiss on her cheek. “I hope you do get back with him. I bet he's a real great guy if you're still hanging on to him the way you are.” Parker glanced down at her and gave her a bittersweet smile that made her heart hurt more than it already did. “I'll see you around.”
Quinn nodded slowly and watched like many time before as he walked down the hallway away from her. She never wanted the title of heart-breaker listed among her many other traits but there it was.

Tagging → Quinn Fabray and Noah Puckerman Time Frame → September 29th, 2013 Location → Puck’s apartment General Notes → Quinn is at Puck's apartment during a football game and she isn't sure why she even came as Puck's attention is typically only on the game. But after some unexpected things occur, the day takes a very different turn.
Quinn hadn't known why she went over to Puck's apartment today. She knew it was Sunday and that meant football. She wanted to see him and her mom had agreed to watch Beth for a couple hours as she had wanted to take the small baby shopping anyway. Wearing a jersey Puck had tossed to her over her dress, Quinn sat in the kitchen bored out of her mind. She'd gone in there saying she'd make nachos or whatever people ate while watching football but hadn't never return to the living room where Puck yelled profanities every couple minutes. She walked back into the living room with nothing in her hand and sat down on the chair across from Puck. "Is this almost over yet?"
Puck glanced at Quinn and shook his head. "It's only the 3rd quarter," he replied shortly. "OH COME ON REF! YOU GOTTA CALL THAT! HOLDING!" Puck was known to be very vocal during football games. Groaning as the defense missed a tackle, he banged his head softly with the football in his hand. He grabbed his beer and took a long sip. He settled back into the couch and called Bruce over to him.
Quinn jumped at his outburst even though she should expect them by now. Collapsing into the chair, she huffed and watched Puck sit intently with her eyes glued to the TV. Bruce was even ignoring her today as he too almost seemed to be watching the game with his owner. Quinn wished she liked football but no matter how many games she watched or how often Puck tried to explain it, she simply didn't get it at all. Standing up, Quinn thought about just going to Puck's room and preoccupying herself until the game was over but another idea popped into her head. She walked behind the couch noting a loll in the game and leaned down to press a kiss to his neck. She placed another one and nipped at his skin teasingly. "You look really sexy today," she whispered lowly in his ear with intent to pull him away from the television set.
Puck scratched behind Bruce's ears as they watched the game. The dog would bark every time Puck would yell, as if he was agreeing with his owner. Passing the football between his hands, he shook his head at the coach's play calls. He checked his phone to see how his fantasy football team was faring. Feeling a kiss on his neck, Puck kissed the air in response, his eyes still reading over statistics. "Thanks. Yea you too," he mumbled in response.
Quinn huffed and stalked back over to her chair to contemplate more ideas or if it was just in her best interest to leave. Deciding on the first not wanting to get beat by a football game for her boyfriend's attention, Quinn sat on the chair and found herself pouting as she watched men with tight pants run with a football for two seconds before getting tackled over and over again. If only he was as easy to distract as Quinn was when she was watching TV or perhaps she wasn't that involved with anything like Puck was with football. Letting out a dramatically loud sigh, Quinn glanced over to him to see if he'd have a reaction or not. "I think I'll just go home then..."
Puck furrowed his brow at Quinn. He knew she hated football, but he put up with watching musicals with her for research. "Why? The game is getting good! We're tied right now." Gesturing at the TV, he glanced back at his girlfriend. He leaned over and pulled her into his lap. "Do you want me to pay more attention to you?" Wrapping his arms around her waist, he softly kissed her neck. "Is this what you want?"
Quinn shrugged and looked to the TV for a moment before looking back to Puck. "I'd love to like football but I just don't..." she mumbled out. Her being pulled into the lap was something she wasn't expecting but she could enjoy it for the time being. "I don't want to be that girlfriend to pull you away from your man time while watching football but...yes, it is what I want. But watch your game...I'll just do something for the time being..."
Puck smirked and kept her on his lap. He pulled the jersey off of her and tossed it to the side. Placing open mouthed kisses along her shoulder, he trailed his fingers along her thigh. "I can multitask," he mumbled against her skin. "I don't want to be that boyfriend who completely ignores his beautiful girlfriend just because football is on."
Quinn blinked at him, confusion reflecting in her eyes. "I think if we're going to do anything, I want to be the only one able to make you scream..." she said softly. "It's fine..." her body betrayed her; her back arched to make her closer to him. "I'll behave. I promise..."
Puck shook his head and flipped her around so she was straddling her. "Too late. You've awoken Puckasaurus." Smirking, he hungrily connected his lips with hers. He glanced at the television for a moment before turning his attention back to his girlfriend. Puck bucked his hips into hers as he gripped her thighs tightly, scared that she was going to break away from him.
Quinn couldn't help but kiss him back or to think that this was what she had wanted after all. She groaned as he grounded himself against her hips. "At least my plan worked..." she mumbled against his lips before trailing down his jaw and then to his neck.
Puck groaned softly as she turned her attention to his neck. Puck lifted his arms up to allow Quinn to pull his jersey off of his body. Pulling her flush against his chest, he reached around and unzipped her dress. "I'm gonna miss you this week," he stated as he moved the straps off of her shoulder. Puck leaned down and nipped at her collarbone.
Quinn moved away from him and took the opportunity he gave her to remove the jersey from him. "I'll miss you too," Quinn pressed her lips together but let out a groan at the feeling of his lips on her. "It's not that long though. We've been apart longer..." She tried to reason with him.
Puck nodded and tugged her dress down her body. "I know. But I love you. I hate being away from you." Puck lifted her up slightly to pull the dress completely off of her body. Laying her down on the couch, he connected his lips with hers once more. He broke away from her lips and kissed her neck. Pausing his actions, he glanced down at the blonde in his arms. "Marry me."
Quinn found herself in her underwear on his couch once again but the thought of it didn't faze her. Instead, she eagerly kissed him back and tried to remember if he had said where Scott was and if there was a chance of him walking in on them. Closing her eyes as Puck pressed a kiss to her neck, she murmured out a sound of content when she noticed he stopped. Hearing the two words she had heard him speak since they were sixteen...sometimes in a sentence and sometimes just by themselves like this moment, Quinn's hazel eyes opened and gazed up at Puck. "I thought that was always the plan since we were young..." she reach up and pulled him back down to her, pressing a kiss on his lips once again.
Puck smiled against her lips and pulled away once more. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out the velvet box he had taken to carrying with him for the past couple of weeks. "I'm serious this time, Quinn. Marry me..." He opened the box and tilted it so she could see the ring. "I'm getting a little tired of holding onto this," he joked.
Quinn’s eyes knitted together when he reached into his back pocket to reveal a small ring box. Quinn didn't want to assume anything until she heard his words and saw the ring resting in the box. Wiggling up into a sitting position, the blonde never took her eyes off the ring but remained silent. "How...how long have you been carrying that around for?" she glanced to Puck and back to the ring as light reflected off of it almost like it was demanding her attention.
Puck leaned on his arm and glanced down at the ring. Shrugging, he thought back to when he pulled it out of his cigar box. "Well I've had the ring for about three years now. But I started carrying it again about two weeks ago? Ever since you told me you would be my girlfriend again..." He glanced from the ring to Quinn's face, trying to read what's going on in her head.
Quinn didn't know why she was so hesitant about saying yes and having Puck place the ring on her finger. She knew that she wanted to marry him. She'd actually know that for a long time now. Chewing on her lip, she fixated on the ring and couldn't help but think he had done a very good job at picking it. "I-I..." she stammered out and closed her mouth before sounding stupider. It wasn't everyday Quinn Fabray fell speechless.
Puck’s face fell slightly when she immediately didn't accept his proposal. Closing the ring box, he stuffed it into his back pocket. He waved a hand at her and pulled his jersey on once more. "No worries. It's too soon. I get it. We'll talk about it later." Puck finished the rest of his beer and quickly got up to grab another one...and to escape the embarrassment he felt.
Quinn fell back on the couch with a thud and stared up at the ceiling, knowing she had just drop kicked Puck's self-confidence. She wasn't sure what to say in this moment or if she would be able to articulate what she wanted to say. Disregarding the fact that she was just in her bra and panties, she got up and walked into the kitchen to find Puck grabbing another beer from the fridge. "Puck..." her voice was soft yet quiet, "You know I love you. I love you a ridiculous amount."
Puck stood there staring into the fridge, even though the beer he wanted was sitting right there in front of him. Hearing her voice pulled him out of his trance. Puck grabbed the bottle and shut the door. Leaning against the counter, he nodded quietly. "Yup. I know that," he simply said. He opened his beer and took a long sip before making his way back into the living room to watch the game.
Quinn nodded when he acknowledged her words and frowned when he began to make his return to the television, ultimately only getting his attention for a little while. Using her pickpocket skills she had mastered in senior year to get Puck's car keys or cellphone away from him in a drunken state, the blonde quickly reached into his back pocket and snatched the small box out. Quinn remained in the kitchen carefully playing with it but not daring to open it to take another look at the ring inside.
Puck leaned back into the couch and ran his hand over his face. He felt like a complete and totally idiot at the moment. Taking a sip of his beer, he tried to refocus on the game but ended up failing. Turning off the TV, Puck got off of the couch. Pausing at the kitchen entrance, he stared down at his feet. "Hey. I think I'm just gonna head to bed," he mumbled, not looking over at the blonde. Sighing, Puck made his way to his room and collapsed face first onto his bed.
Quinn pressed her lips together and tried to figure out why such a small item of jewelry was giving her such a hard time. She wanted to say yes and thought when the time came, it would be easy to do so. But her thoughts created a familiar traffic jam in her head and stopped her from doing so. Fumbling with the box more, she quickly hide it behind her back when she heard Puck approach the kitchen. Nodding at his words, she stay in the kitchen for a moment more before trailing after him. She stopped to put her dress back on, not particularly wanting to have a conversation like this in her underwear. Quinn entered his room and quietly shut the door behind her. Sitting herself on the end of his bed, Quinn tried to grasp the words she needed. "I'm sorry..." the two words seemed like a nice enough start. The blonde slipped the box into the pocket of her dress.
Puck held Bruce close as he laid there. They had always discussed getting married, and he assumed it was what she wanted. Puck was ready to start his future with Quinn and was confused as to why she kept putting on the breaks. Stiffening as he heard her enter the room, Puck rolled onto his back when he felt the end of the bed dip slightly. Shrugging his shoulder at her apology, he stared up at the ceiling. "It's fine. Don't worry about it."
Quinn fidgeted with her dress and sighed. "It's not fine, Puck..." She tried to ignore the velvet box she hide in her pocket as best as she could. "Marrying you was always something I planned to do," she began and looked down at her lap, "From when I was about ten, I have notebook pages with the words Mrs. Quinn Puckerman on them. Back then, everything seemed simpler. I also thought there wasn't a chance in hell that there would be a day that I would actually become your wife," she chuckled humourlessly and took a much needed breath to calm herself, "Now we're obviously older and together. We even have an amazing daughter together. And I keep thinking how would I not say yes immediately. You're everything I ever wanted..."
Puck sat up. Leaning against the headboard, he quietly listened to her speak. Puck crossed his arms over his chest and sighed. "But clearly something is holding you back. You're not ready yet. It's fine. I'm not going to rush you into saying yes to me, Quinn." He shrugged and stared off into the distance, avoiding eye contact with the blonde. "Take your time. It's not like I'm going anywhere."
Quinn let a half smile grace her face and glanced over to a Puck who was clearly avoiding her. "You've never rushed me into anything, Puck. You waited a half an hour for me to jump off that cliff in the quarry..." she laughed slightly at the memory before refocusing herself. "Um...everyone in my life who has been married...it hasn't worked out. Like 50% of marriages end in divorce or something like that..." She mumbled out and stopped herself, having a sense she was only making this worse. "But I think about how much I love you and how much I can see you love me by just one glance from across a room. It's always been you and me. And we're made it this far..."
Puck rolled his eyes slightly as she began to spit out statistics in true Quinn Fabray fashion. "We have made it this far. And we'll make it even further. Whether we're engaged or not. So like I said. It's fine. If you're not ready to say yes then we'll wait and I'll ask again later." He sat up straight and shrugged his shoulders. "If you have to put this much thought into it...then it's not the right time. I don't want you blowing a fuse trying to weight your options, Q. So let's just put this conversation on pause. You can give me back the ring you took out of my pocket...and I'll ask you again later when I think you're ready." Standing up, Puck pulled off his jersey and grabbed a shirt to sleep in.
Quinn’s eyes widened slightly, having been caught with the stolen item that resided in her pocket. "And when will I be ready exactly? When I've started to put together a bridal book together and eagerly anticipating the day when you decide to ask me again?" she huffed and watched him start to get ready for bed. She ignored his requested to place the conversation on hold blatantly. "I've imagined life without you when we hadn't spoke for a year and I could never imagine it in a way that I was happy because I know I wouldn't be." She stuck her hand in her pocket and held onto the box in her hand but didn't remove it.
Puck changed into a pair of shorts and turned to face his girlfriend. "Maybe after you've moved in with me or something. I dunno," he shrugged and took off his dog tags. Puck sat on the bed once more and stared down at his hands. "I'm not saying we're breaking up or we're never going to get engaged, Quinn. But listen to yourself. The question did not require even 10% of the thought you put into it and I can still tell that your brain is working on overdrive. So let's just put a pin in this." He laid down on the bed and sighed. "We'll try again later."
Quinn nodded slowly and stood up to place the velvet box on his dresser. She slightly slipped off her dress again and then removed her bra before retrieving a shirt from the dresser. Tugging it over her head, she laid herself down beside him. Quinn was frustrated with herself to say the least. "I'm just glad you love me enough to put up with all this. I warned you about all this, Puckerman," she joked lightly and exhaled softly. "I love you, Puck."
Puck smiled as he watched her join him in bed. Rolling onto his side, he draped his arm around her waist and pulled her to him. "I love you too, Quinn. I always will." Leaning forward, he placed a simple kiss on her lips.
Quinn smiled at back him after the kiss but couldn't help but to feel guilty. "Did your team win at least?" Her voice was muffled as she nuzzled closer to him.
Puck chuckled and shook his head. "Nope. Oh well. There's always next week." Burrowing his head into the pillow, he tightened his hold on the blonde. "Goodnight, Q."
Quinn tangled her fingers in his shirt and sighed, "Hopefully next week is a good week." Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to relax. "Goodnight..." she mumbled into his chest and slowly let herself succumb to sleep.
