Phoebe strolled down the concrete sidewalk without direction or purpose. The sun was hanging low in the sky and her mind was dancing along the horizon. She wondered why nothing interesting ever happened in Colonie, New York. She wondered why her parents could ever want to move here from the big city. But, most importantly, she wondered when she'd finally find the direction in which to leave this place. That's when her day dreams were ripped away from her by a loud, metallic, wheezing noise. Her first instinct was to turn around and walk briskly in the other direction. However, she found herself tracking the noise to an alleyway just a few feet ahead. She cautiously peered around the brick and motar to catch a glimpse of the narrow side-street. It was empty aside for a few metal garbage bins and a blue wooden box. It seemed ordinary enough, yet somehow out of place. She watched intently as one of the doors slowly creaked open.
