Happy new year everyone! I haven't posted here in ages but recently stumbled upon an art piece of starfire inspired by Anna Diop's (Titans) interpretation I did ages back ( the last -third picture) . Back when I drew it I had used the second picture as reference (it was the only available reference at the time as I drew it before the show had started). Unintentionally, as it can clearly be seen, I drew the character more light skinned than she should be. While I absolutely did not mean to be offensive , I recognize the depth of the issue and racist tones of lightening the skin tone of a dark skinned person. Back then, I used to use a horrid filter on my art that also gave a washed-blueish hue to my art , probably to disguise my lack of skill when it came to shading skin. I had apologised for my error back then and drew a couple of more art pieces of Anna Diop's star fire, being more considerate and accurate. Nevertheless, I wanted to redraw this specific piece as I feel it's important not to hide one's errors but recognise them and show improvement. My art is still heavily stylised and I still have a lot to learn, but I feel there is progress.
