Forever Begins
Forever Begins by Tiye Love is about retired hip-hop artist Alonzo “Zo” Taylor and bartender Sage Parker. Zo is a frequent patron at the bar Sage works at, the night they speak to each other for the first time he saves her from a dangerous situation. Sage is a single mother to her 17 year old son Poet. She’s so busy providing for her son she has no idea who Zo is when they meet. She just knows they have amazing chemistry. Zo and Sage are an example insta-love or kismet, their tattoos match. They’ve both been through a lot and have come into each others lives at the right moment. They save each other from a loveless life. However , Sage and Zo are a mess! They gave me whiplash with the constant back and forth. They had highs and lows, the growing pains of dating someone in the industry that wasn’t when you first met. Also his vices were big relationship deters which were difficult to navigate especially in the entertainment industry. I like the emphasis of being able to fight your battles/vices on your own, the person you’re in a relationship with cant do it for you. I’m glad Sage always called Zo out on his bs instead of coddling him. I love the bond Poet and Zo have, Zo is quickly invested right away. Zo understands Poet and is the male figure that Poet needs. I appreciate that even when Zo and Sage are not in the best place, he doesn’t stop being there for Poet. Zo and Sage are both flawed characters, they have rough patches however they find something special in each other. This book is apart of a series but can be read as a standalone.
CW- mentions sexual assault, mentions domestic abuse, mentions death of a loved one
