Hey Danie! I know you still aren’t completely convinced by the time loop theory. I won’t say I’m completely bought either, but I noticed something that makes me think that there either is a time loop, or someone’s messing with people’s memories. Do you remember how MC seemed to be learning Elias’s name for the first time this episode? I started wondering when it was that they established she finally knew his name. I haven’t read most of these episodes in a while, so I looked back a bit. I found that in Ch 7 of Ep 16, well after Samhain, we are once again being introduced for the “first time”. So unless MC and Elias were just pretending for some reason, doesn’t this mean either time or memories are being tampered with?
No, it could mean that this isn't the same branch of this timeline to begin with.

Think of it this way:
You're playing a video game. You die in a boss fight in that game, or you realize you miss something and restart the level or reload a checkpoint. The game doesn't erase your save file, it puts you to an earlier checkpoint or the beginning of the level. This is a loop. You've moved back in the same save file to do something different. Maybe you replay a level now that you have another ability so you can go somewhere you couldn't before, but it's the same save file. Same save file = loop.
Now imagine instead you make a new save file starting from the beginning of the story. The game obviously starts the same because it's the same game. But it doesn't have any of the same progress as the first save file. This is a parallel timeline. You can make different choices and it doesn't impact Save File 1.
Additional point of consideration: imagine you beat the game on Save File 1. You go back to the menu and you're given the opportunity to start a New Game Plus--you get all of the key items you beat the game with, but you start the game from the beginning still. If you start a New Game Plus in Save File 1, that's a loop. If you start a New Game Plus in Save File 3 that's not a loop--that's another timeline, but with a transplant from Save File 1.
Looping would be MC goes back to another checkpoint in S1's timeline. Yes things could have changed, especially if she's not the only one who moves and maintains or eventually regains some memories, but it's like someone hit 'restart level' or 'reload checkpoint' in the save file or went back to an earlier level to redo it. Same timeline but a previous point. Probably maintains or eventually regains knowledge from the past, but starts over from an earlier point.
I think this is another save file. Not the first one. A parallel timeline.
How exactly does this relate to the first file then? Well Elias said that this had to happen to her. She had to see this.
Consider this hypothetical: Elias's stigma lets him see other timelines. Elias can look at other save files. When MC enhances his stigma, she can also see those timelines.
Elias shows MC what happens in the story of save file 1. Elias lets MC see what could happen to the world. Yes the save file they're in has diverged at this point--save file 1 appears to be missing characters that weren't encountered earlier--but the point still stands that its Game Over is equally possible in this save file. MC from season 1 had to get that bad ending because if that timeline never occurred then Elias couldn't warn her about it in a different one. He can't see the future of this timeline like Taiga can, he can only see what happens in timelines parallel to their own.
Alternatively she isn't sent back in this timeline, but sent to another timeline to hopefully try and save that one instead. No longer in the same save file, but with some of the knowledge of what went wrong in the first one to hopefully make a difference.
Is it possible this is a timeloop or a time reversal or something like that and there have just been changes? Sure. The new season's literally just started, we truly don't know anything yet. I've been wrong a million times before.
But right now I personally don't think that's it. "What could we have done to stop this?" In order to understand that we first have to know how it happened--and how it could happen. If we see the way different save files went, we can try and choose the best options to get a good ending. But first we have to see how everything goes wrong and when and why, so it can be avoided.
The save files we're watching are real. But those lives are lost causes. And if you don't want this file to become a lost cause too? Learn from their mistakes and hope it isn't as inevitable as Taiga says it is. Because even Taiga knows the future can be changed--it's just hard to change it.
Does that make sense? I don't think it's that anybody is lying or anybody forgot anything or time's been modified or started over. It's just going differently because it's a parallel timeline. The things we've experienced in Season 1 just haven't happened here yet because it's not the same timeline, just a nearby one.

-I knew this chapter would be challenging for jiro bc of his relationship to zenji. And zenji = music. Even if he never heard him play at home, they were both alive and well at dw at one point, and zenji must've been playing then. Jiro probably doesn't remember that actively, but it's buried in his memories.
-tow mentioned that iris said coriander was looking for a strong ghoul. Idk if it was mentioned before, but "iris" is probably towa's name for zenji, and as we can see zenji is always closely watching
-back to the broken instruments. Apparently only yuri had the key, but what if jiro borrowed it and it was simply never mentioned bc they would never suspect one of their own for doing something lke that?
-i think jiro had an attack, maybe on the verge of remembering something, which made him act violently at instruments, things his brain associates with zenji.
-after realizing what he'd done, he didn't want to worry yuri, who he knows is stressed about winning, so he pretends he doesn't know anything.
-also, the slime anomaly is just too sweet to do something like that. All its other actions were just for hyping the brey men up.
Theory 2:
-it's not a time loop. It's an alternate timeline
-a timeloop is something that repeats with mostly the same result at the end, to my understanding. But this story is clearly branching off from what we know about that time of the year.

-i suspect elias may have his fingers in all this, but it's too soon to say how exactly

first one could also possibly be mio to me because his neck is exposed and mio usually wears his hair up,, but also waves of love gives them different hairstyles so who even knows
i wonder if they will be doing 4 characters from two houses and then 2 characters from different houses like last time or if they will just randomly have an assortment 0_0
