i love the coccham squad, don’t get me wrong. but honest to god the most important character in the entire series is gisela. she’s the only person who can calm uhtred down enough to keep his head on straight. she advocates for his men and their wives. she’s a badass and holds her own against everyone who belittles her for being a dane. she is literally the glue that holds them all together. i will forever and always be as devastated by her fate as uhtred was/is.
